Brandon Lloyd Released by Patriots

If we could get Lloyd on a 1 or 2 year deal for $3mil or less per year it'd be great. Should be workable into our cap and the guy is a baller. Would be a good band-aid so we can focus on other things in a draft that's very light at the top at WR (by that I mean potential future #1s) but very heavy in the 2nd round on.

Imagine how nice itd be to pick up Lloyd and add a nice receiving prospect early in the draft.

Unfortunately our free agency inactivity dictates we have to address as many needs as possible in the draft and can't afford to double dip if we were to sign Lloyd.

After coming back and reading your reply, I acknowledge that I jumped the gun and made the mistake of calling you out. Panther4life's assumption was 100% correct. The line "Because I think there are some people in south east Asia that haven't heard of our cap problems" sounded as a direct attack towards me given you can tell in my avatar that is where my ethnicity is from. Although to me it felt like a personal attack, I see that now it wasn't. My apologies 110%.

It takes a real man to apologize over the internet where some mofos get off on trolling and personally attacking people with impunity. You didn't have to do it, but you did.

On an iPhone avatars are a bit too small to make out those details. Dumb luck I guess. Not gonna say its cool because those were some haymakers you were throwing around. However mistakes are common and I acknowledge that. Now back to football, and our common enemy, the 2013 offseason.

You acknowledged the mistake like a man and accepted the apology (in your own way). That's uncommon as well. I respect that also.

Rep for the both of you!

I like it. But since we didn't cut gross before the league year does that change his cap numbers? Did a portion of his salary become guaranteed? If not, good scenario.

I too like this

I think Lloyd would be a good complement to Smitty.

Now Lloyd enters the free agent market, possibly looking for another fresh start. Lloyd was nearly done with football before he was signed by McDaniels in Denver in June 2009, but he didn't play until December that year. Then came his spectacular season in 2010, during which he led the NFL with 1,448 receiving yards.

He has been following McDaniels around the league for some time now. What would be a better fresh start than playing with Cam?

We signed a veteran corner already- Drayton Florence

We have also already signed a veteran DT- Colin Cole (though he hasn't played for two years)

As of yesterday morning, these are other available DTs

Here are the top available defensive tackles that are remaining in free agency:

  • Sedrick Ellis — 2012 team: New Orleans Saints

  • Alan Branch — 2012 team: Seattle Seahawks

  • Casey Hampton — 2012 team: Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Aubrayo Franklin — 2012 team: San Diego Chargers

  • Richard Seymour — 2012 team: Oakland Raiders

  • Ma’ake Kemoeatu — 2012 team: Baltimore Ravens

  • Antonio Garay — 2012 team: San Diego Chargers

  • Dwan Edwards — 2012 team: Carolina Panthers

  • Shaun Cody — 2012 team: Houston Texans

  • Mike Patterson — 2012 team: Philadelphia Eagles

Kemoeatu used to play here; he might come back

As far as OTs in the first, Eric Fisher from Central Mich. fits the bill

He has to fall to us though. He is projected to be top 10/15. Other than him, no thanks

DT in the second, John Jenkins.

http://www.cbssports...53/john-jenkins

S in the fourth, Tony Jefferson

OLB in the fifth, Lerentee McCray

And we do no have a seventh, so as far as taking a kicker with the last pick, Caleb Sturgis. He is pretty much the only kicker worth taking.

All this is assuming we do not make any trades.

Either way, I trust Mr. Gettleman do the right thing. These first two picks fit with his philosophy of beefing up the Lines, which is how you win.

As far as the new league year changing his cap numbers:

The 12th – specifically at 4:00 p.m. ET – is when all 2013 conditions take effect, most notably the new salary cap and the advancement of player contracts from one year to the next. Those whose contracts had a final year of 2012 are set to become free agents (barring any franchise tags or new deals) and those whose contracts did include a 2013 component will see their new salary numbers count against the cap.

I won't post the link for this because its actually from the Bucs website- only place I could find...

I started reading here a couple years ago, and I finally went ahead and made an account. I am not new to the panthers though. I have been a fan for going on 11 years now.
