Anyone else think it's a strong possibillity we trade D-will on draft day?

If I'm correct, trading Dwill would have a bad influence on our cap this year? Can't see it happening, with Bradshaw and Turner still active as FA, and Dwill his huge contract. For me, our backfield is set with Tolbert,Dwill and Stewart. These will have to do it.

I do think that next year, Dwill is gone.

This are his cap figures for the next 2 years according to Spotrac:

2014 5,750,000 3,200,000 250,000 9,200,000

2015 6,750,000 3,200,000 250,000 10,200,000

If we trade him, we still eat his signing bonus so the other team wouldn't take on as much of the burden, though its still sizable. As to it being better to to cut him next year, maybe so but if we cut him next year we still take some hit next year. If we trade or cut him this year, we wipe out his entire hit for 2014 (unless a June 1st designee) when we need to resign Hardy and possibly resign Cam. I love DWill but if we can get a 5th for him, I'd take it and run away laughing.

Since Marty engineered a contract that makes it very difficult to move him, I doubt it. THe best thing to do is either cut him June 1 or get one more season out of him and then cut him June 1. I think we will go with the latter. However, it depends on how much $$ we have to sign our draft picks. Personally, I would make him a june 1 cut and go with Tolbert, Stewart, and Poole.

Hurney is an idiot.

Nope.

Only thing that happens prior to June 1 would be a paycut or making him a June 1 cut. He is untradeable....his age and contract and the impact against our cap if traded draft day for a 5th

What if Gettleman could move up in the draft offering our #14 pick and D-will in a trade ? Or maybe offering this package to a team needing to move up in the draft and also a RB. This might give us first round pick and possibly a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

    • I hope you understand that this Anti Bryce thing as you call it is really a pro Panthers thing. I think I can safely use we. We want the best for the Panthers.  As far as this other post saying ‘Anti’ Bryce people do misinformation.. you mean like going all in on “Renfro should have caught” that poorly thrown ball? I guess it was week 1. And calling it a drop. Comical btw.  I wonder, did you call that out or let it slide because it aligned with your agenda?
    • These are great posts with the comparisons and the numbers.   I haven’t lookyat Smity’s numbers since probably the first time he was on the ballot.  But if you watched every week you know what he is. Whatever his yardage or targets numbers were.  He was fuging dominant. I have watched since the AFL days and seen who there is to see. There are many great WRs over the years. GREAT WRs. Smitty is up there in the game of football.
    • Smith is clear cut HOF if you judge what he did by reception. Fitzgerald was a stat padder.    The most Steve Smith was ever targeted in his career was in 2005 (150 targets). The same year he wins the triple crown.    Larry Fitzgerald was targeted more than 150 times over 9 separate seasons. Not once eclipsing 1500 yards in a season.    The over glazing of Larry Fitzgerald going around is way over blown. ARZ was top 10 in passing attempts nearly his entire prime. Steve Smith and Andre Johnson had it far worse and would have surpassed his #s in the same situation.
