City is running out of options in effort to tie Panthers to Charlotte

McCrory could easily say that the state has no money to give, but that he's not going to block Charlotte from raising it's own taxes to give as much as they want.... so this is obviously petty partisan politics.

Agree. Especially since we are only talking about 1-2% on prepared food in Charlotte only. The tax is not being imposed on everybody, only those who choose to eat out in Charlotte.

Truth be told they could frame it so we could give them .01 and tie the team here for 15 years

But $150M is what SCP wants charlotte residents to pay while he lives in SC

I eat out uptown and in Charlotte probably as much as you. I pay a local business for a season parking pass every year. I buy my PSL tickets every year. I pay NC state taxes. So I'm qualified to bitch.

McCrory must be a Redskin fan.

Not looking good IMO. The new owner will have an easy exit if he/she chooses to leave town. But hey, at least we'll save $.75 when we make the choice to eat out in uptown.

Near 100% chance he's a Cowboys fan.

It's not enough money and that's what the original article is about. lol It's about coming up short of the total amount.

That deal has no tether or agreement with the Panther's and the Panther's have told the state and city to pay up the full amount if they want the tether. Otherwise it's game over for the city in regards to this deal to keep the Panther's legally tied to Charlotte.

Pretty much, the city and state need to come up with the remaining money left from the original proposal or there's no deal. With the state refusing to raise tax's or anything else in the deal, the city needs to come up with 40-50 extra million dollars with no way of using any type of tax increase.

Which is almost impossible, either the state allows the prepared food tax to go through or it's game over for that original deal.

wasnt it mcrory that fuged up the hornets?

Nope, that was all on George Shinn after the sex scandal he was involved with. Of course some of the city leaders (Don Reid) was dead-set against a new uptown arena. I'm still hopeful something will happen soon to tie the team to Charlotte. How foolish would it be for the Carolinas to loose this team. And if they do, I don't see the NFL coming back. I just think (as sorry as Iam to say it) there's just too many transplants that have loyalties to other teams to care about a Charlotte/ Carolinas team. That's why tomorrows vote is so important. At least it tells the Panthers that someone in the Carolinas wants to keep them here.
