Keenan Allen's 40 time; 4.71, Luke Kuechly's 40 time; 4.5. Anyone concerned by Allen's speed? (Or lack thereof)

Not concerned about his speed. I think he is a 4.5 guy when 100% healthy. I'm more concerned about his health. I like Allen but we aren't in the position to wait for him to get healthy. We have too many players on ir every year as it is. I like Hopkins better. I know he isn't flashy but you don't need to be when your beating coverage.

Damn...with the way some of you are obsessed with speed, I would swear that you are the reincarnation of Al Davis.

I am not saying that I want him at #14......I don't....but I don't want any WR in the first. Each has too many holes/questions about their game.

Patterson....too damn raw and terrible route runner.

Allen....speed is a ?, but I am more hesitant on the injury.

Austin....fast and electric. But, I don't like slot WR's that high. He is short and very light. Don't give me the SS and Harvin comments because both of those guys are built like tanks compared to Austin. Not to mention SS has a vertical leap that compensates for his lack of height. Something that Austin does not have.

I like some of the guys that are likely to be there at #44 (better value).

What's your concerns with Hopkins?

According to PFF only 4 receivers had 15 or more receptions of 20 yards or more in the air. The most was 21 with megatron.

1 of those guys was Reggie Wayne and Greg Cossell loves to compare Allen to him.

So really how fuging important is timed speed with no pads or defensive coverage?

Um reggie wayne ran a 4.45 just FYI .

I can understand the concern, but the guy had someone on The Golden Calf of Bristol's status or worse throwing to him. That QB he had was absolutely terrible.

I know maynard sucked, but 15 out of 16 under 100 is unacceptable for a first round prospect. When I look at first round guys, I want to see them take over games like Warmack did against ND or Hopkins vs. LSU. Allen bas been a ghost since the mid point of the 2011 season. Screams early 2nd to me.

This concerns me more...

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter 7m

Keenan Allen, the No. 1-rated WR on some boards, was red-flagged for a drug test at scouting combine in Indy and retested this month.

Edit: There's more...agent denies it

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter 1m

Keenan Allen's agent, JT Johnson, denied his client failed any drug test. Results of recent test unknown. Some had Allen as draft's No. 1 WR

    • This while he didn't single handily LOSE the game on any one play.....    He was a first overall pick, one we paid a fortune for..... the bar for him is a 10 foot dunk not a 5"8 children's rim.   32 for 49 for 287 with 1 td and 1 int in two games vs the worst team in the conference, two critically important games that we would be 9-5 and competing for the #2 if he had led us to victory....   Ive given him props for the TD to tet.... it was the best pass ive ever seen him make.....   But putting up these kind of numbers isn't up to par. Defenses stack the box and dare him to throw....  and he still puts up medicore at best numbers.    To win with Bryce young the entire rest of the team has to be absolutely perfect to make up for his deficiencies.... so while he didn't "lose" this game for us..... HE DEFFINATLY DIDNT GO WIN IT FOR US. (Which is the REALISTIC EXPECTATION)
    • His O is just built on taking repeated shots and that’s not BY’s game.  It was always a round peg and square hole…. But I also agree with your post.  I hate OC HCs.  Especially green ones.   I never liked anything about the setup
    • I get that. He's also trying to do HC and OC this year which I think is just too much for him. I think it's hard to call plays from the sidelines. That view from up top helps them see what a defense is doing better. A few HCs can do it because they have the QBs and experience to pull it off. DC has neither. I think DC may have spread himself too thin and Bryce isn't the QB to be able to pull of his end of it either. How much they compliment each other in creating this offensive bleh, yet to be determined. Doesn't really matter because it's still awful.
