Now that the love affair with all the QBs has died down. By the time we select any player we were hoping to drop to 14 is going to be long gone. I pray we drop down to later in the 1st round and grab a second.

except hardy's contract is up after this year and in a year or two CJ's contract won't hurt as bad to cut loose.

might make sense to let go of the big money (or potentially big money) guys. CJ's contract is going to make it hard to keep hardy and it's going to make it hard to keep him long term.

that's the only upside i can see...a DL with alexander and mingo on the ends and enough money to have a balanced team and cap room to improve where needed.

They've seen his WVU highlights, and they've seen the kind of damage the Saints have done with Darren Sproles. Ya think they're gonna ignore those things and just use him in the slot?

you put him in whatever pigeonhole you feel makes your case against him.

doesn't matter how many ways he can and will actually be used and the fascination teams are having with his skillset and speed and overall talent. the myopic viewpoint will always go back to he's a short slot receiver and that's all there is to him.

almost voted "other", because that could mean the field. Anyone not listed. And there's a ton of guys listed there that would be better than, say, picking a RB, a ST specialist, a QB, and so on, or someone rated 3rd round or later. Any of that Al Davis type stuff.

Voted Cyprien, because getting the 2nd, or possibly 4th, best safety at 14 would be a potential tragedy in some ways, and didn't want the ire of singling out a 5'8 receiver and the baggage that apparently has around here.

Frankly we don't know yet if Mike Shula is capable of such things or even wants a player like that.

Gettleman specifically talked a lot about 'fit' in his presser and the dangers of picking a guy without a plan for him. Austin seems like a player who will either be great or misused depending on the scheme.

I realize Shula could be gone next year, but I don't think we can afford to have our 1st round pick not contribute in a big way this year if we expect to make the playoffs.

On the flip side, if we do pick Austin, I think it will be because they have thought a lot about how to use him, and he could be a very dynamic player for us.
