Panthers Round 2 Prediction - Johnthan Banks

It will take a bit of good fortune, but I do think Banks will be the Panthers 2nd round pick. They may need to trade up just a bit to grab him, but it will be well worth it.

Started as a Freshman (can handle pressure), 6'2, 185, and dominated in the SEC. Played well through injury and pain. Performs well in run support.

Wouldn't hate it, but I'd prefer DT + WR with the first 2 picks. Now, if we trade down and have two 2nd rounders I wouldn't mind a corner, but I'd still prefer a safety.

DJ Hayden would be ideal in the second.. He tackles much better and a playmaker.

Banks is good but limited to a zone guy... But nice to have to cover the Julio Jones, Vincent Jax or Colstens.

Not sure about that. Everything I read says the jury is out on his ability on an island.

We sure seemed to get the most of our CB's last year, one of the few bright spots in coaching. I am thinking they could really polish this kid.

I've wanted Banks but it doesnt seem like the Panthers are even focused on any CBs in the draft.

The SEC isn't exactly loaded with talented receivers. However, I did watch him against tennessee and he matched up really well with Patterson. He's not as physical against the run as his size would indicate but he does well enough. I'd be happy with him in the second round for sure. Rather have Taylor or Hayden but it's looking like both those guys will be gone by then.

IMHO Banks is the most underrated player in this draft. I know others would dislike the pick, but I really would love to get this guy. I change my mind so much about who I want, I think I really will just be fine with any combination of OL, DT, CB, S, or WR in the first two rounds.

funny how more time off the field changes draft status than directly after the season. Banks was a first rounder all day a couple months ago and mysteriously has dropped probably to the second round, possibly even behind his teammate Slay. I would be very happy if he fell to us in the second.
