So Luke is the MLB.

as of right now I understand TD is slated as the SLB and Beason is WLB. Maybe someone can help me understand why Davis isn't simply staying at his home at WLB and Beason going to SLB?

Where did you hear that? I understood it as Davis moving to SLB and Beason going to WLB.

First sentence was backwards and fixed it. Sorry

Question was why Davis isn't staying at his home at WLB with Beason moving to SLB

I think TD is better fit to play the Sam than Beason because of his size. I also think TD matches up better on TE's than anyone else on the team, including Luke. TD isn't afraid to get physical with them off the line.

I could be wrong, but don't the Sam run blitz like 75% of the time out of our base package (4-3 under), which I believe TD is better fit to do as well.

wait...davis is the SS?

hadn't heard that.

as far as beason moving to the weakside...i dunno. other than MLB, that's the only side he's ever played iirc. the decision as i've heard it, tho, is more about davis being more able to handle the strongside than beason and not about beason being better at the weak side.

TD is the best WLB on the team and it isn't close, not even close. However Davis is the better man coverage/zone coverage guy between the two though, so it makes sense why they would move him to SLB and Beason to WLB.

You want the better coverage guy between the two playing the SLB spot. Beason's also pretty good when he's allowed to roam and he'll be able to do that some playing WLB, where as at SLB you have to be pretty patient and disciplined.

With the TE's in the South division, moving Davis to SLB makes a ton of sense.

Thought it'd have to do with coverage responsibilities...

This is my assumption. TD has better size and speed to cover TE's, but I am a "if it ain't broke" kind of guy so I'm not a fan of the move.

TD is a playmaker. His speed and open field tackling make him a damn good Will, hate to change that.

Yeah, I kind of feel the same. But you've got to put your best group out there AND place them where they fit best, collectively.
