Domino’s Pizza testing pizza-delivering drones

Oh look at the "job creators" hard at work trying to get rid of as many jobs as possible. From what I understand Domino's already pays their delivery drivers less than minimum wage, but I guess even that is too much.

I don't see this happening though. First, I don't see how it could possibly be 100% automated. As it says there, it's being piloted by someone on the ground. Domino's sure as hell wouldn't spend the buttload of money needed to buy a ton of these things just to then replace their drivers with drone pilots (which I'm guessing would be hard to find for the $4 or $5 an hour or whatever they pay). They could care less about delivering pizzas 2 minutes faster, they'd only do this if it allows them to cut half of their work force.

The other thing is weather. Rain, snow, heavy wind, ect. these things would be worthless. And that's when people order delivery food the most. That's a lot of business they'd lose to pizza joints across the street when they have to tell people, "sorry we can't deliver it's kinda windy out right now."

There's plenty of other issues with it as well. Kids running up and stealing the pizza or intentionally damaging the thing, not having places to land (or landing in a parking lot/street and having it get run over).

    • Been here a while but rarely post and most of them are smartazz. Mostly lurk just so I can sound informed while hanging out drinking beer in my neighbors garage. Amusingly a Huddle level of knowledge kind of makes you a subject matter expert. Thanks for that.
    • That’s similar as saying MVP Cam is the same as rookie Cam because his mechanics didn’t change. We’re talking about production.
    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
