Update: Aaron Hernandez Charged with Murder/ Cut by the Patriots

he did have "connections." meaning his circle of friends were known gang members, ran with wrong crowd.

i hadn't heard of him getting in trouble besides smoking some weed in college before any of this though.

Sounds kind of like he led a double life. And while he was never in "trouble" due to his affiliations or connections, they were an influence in his life. The case laid out by the DA makes it sound like he "called in" for help with this murder. Almost as if this was an internal gang loyalty issue. Here's an SI story mentioning the gang connections being a concern.

At least we no longer have the distintcion of being the only team with an active player charged with murder...This poo is messed up though. What would cause a 23 year old millionaire with the world in his hands to kill someone. Roid rage? More to the story. Either way, don't drop the soap

The state charges that the previous Friday night, Hernandez and Lloyd were at a Boston club together, and that Hernandez was upset with Lloyd for associating with people whom he had a previous disagreement. The state says it has video from Hernandez's house of Hernandez saying, hours before Lloyd's body was found, "you can't trust anyone anymore."

It contends that Hernandez then drove Lloyd to a dark area near an industrial park where, between 3:23 a.m. and 3:27 a.m. on June 17, Hernandez and two other men shot Lloyd five times, execution style.

Police have not found a murder weapon and didn't reveal any specific evidence that showed Hernandez was a/the triggerman, although it alleges he delivered all five bullets into Lloyd's body. A slew of video evidence put Hernandez, at the very least, there for the murder. At the scene there were bullets, casings and even a piece of chewed gum.

If this is true, he's not only a murderer but retarded as well. Has he never watched a criminal investigation show? He could have at least tried a reverse Weekend at Bernie's spin off for a few weeks before doing something as idiotic as leave an obvious piece of your DNA at a crime scene.

His buddies are probably rolling on him as we speak. From experience I can say its a horrible moment when the police have you in custody and start saying things to you that only your friends/accomplices could have know. A horrible feeling indeed. Hernandez is what we used to say in jail, "washed".

McCauley explained that Hernandez returned the Altima to a rental car agency, with the driver's-side mirror missing. A worker at rental agency discovered a shell casing under the driver's seat, next to a Bubblicious wrapper.

this guy may be the dumbest criminal in the history of the world

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
    • You gonna make me post Stank before every game?  I kid, I kid.
