Im only excited by 3 people, all on defense

Anyone  who can't be excited about  this team is clinically depressed.  We have more talent on this team than we have had on any team since 2003.  CJ is a stud and frankly had a great year  last year. He was solid against the pass and the run.  The lack of inside rush or run defense made it much easier for teams to double team him or send a TE or running back to chip him. In spite of that he had 12.5 sacks.  In the past 3 years he has had a total of 33 sacks.  In Peppers 3 best years for us he had  a total of 34.5.  And that was with better interior linemen than Johnson has had and a better opposite DE with the lone exception of Hardy one year  in 2012.

CJ still had 10 games without a sack...Peppers was vilified for such

Enough of this Peppers bullshit you keep bringing up, it seems like you're fixated on riling someone up about a player that doesn't even play for us.

Was that the season Peppers got 2.5 sacks total or what??

Sacks are not a great indicator of the pressure a DE generates.  Pressures and Hurries are a better way of evaluating their effectiveness.  If a QB throws the ball away there is no sack but the play is effectively over.

This threads as good as me coming up with one saying certain flavors of cheese-its excite me. This is the most exciting season to be a panther fan since who knows. We have a new GM, new stack of DTs which are gonna help out our already league best 4-3 DEs. The whole secondary is a "?" Which should entail excitement. Id love to see a star born in Norman, Thomas, Mitchell, Campbell, etc.. Seeing those dirty LBs do what they want and stay healthy, exciting.

The fact that we're not running read plays as our primary offense is exciting. Ok Cams 'new toy out of the box' effect is gone but if a more reliable, smart Cam doesn't make ya smile, I dunno what does. Stews exciting. If not, dwills exciting, if not hell we have a firecracker of our own in Barner who I know is exciting.

It doesn't matter what players excite ya, the new dynamic and culture around here should be what does it for ya. Seeing our cap being worked masterfully excites me. Seeing Greg Hardys will to improve and be extra motivated and then hop on the huddle excites me. Smile a little more bro, I know its only June but the exciting times are comin!

Meh, just talking about judging OUR players the same. So if when Peppers was here his play was inconstant and knocked......why can't and shouldn't we expect better from CJ. His contract sets a very high bar.....I don't think he meet that bar in 2012. Nothing more.

...that one AND the two after it.

2008 and 2009...his last 2 Peppers had more sacks, FF, INTs, tackles, etc than Johnson's last 2 seasons.

Johnson's bar is high bc of the huge contract.

anybody who's not excited about the offense should be forced to watch every snap in 2009 and 2010

Everyday, all day, until the beggining of training camp. And then write a 10,000 word essay on how excited they are to watch Edmund Kugbila ride the stationary bike for 3 hours.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
