Kroger is buying Harris Teeter

We eat lots of veggies, I drive by that place everyday and I see many people out there. I do all my shopping for veggies at HT and TJ. I might swing by today. Do they accept credit cards?

Yes they do.

I thought Lowe's and HT were in cahoots together?? What happens to Lowe's?

Nah Kroger and HT have always been in cahoots.  Kroger used to be in NC they couldn't make it work so them and HT swapped stores in VA about 15 years ago.

Kroger will do the same thing with HT as they did with Fred Meyers. They bought them in the Northwest and kept the name and brand going.  Brand loyalty is huge for grocery.

Makes sense.

As far as my impression of Kroger, it was more or less a result of my own experience growing up. We had one in Fayetteville up until I was about 10 or so, then they shut it down and we never had another one in the area. And as a kid, it seemed like EVERYONE did their shopping there, so I had always wondered why they would close.

When I went to college, there were several all over the Raleigh/Durham area and I even worked for one prior to starting school, and it was unimpressive to say the least.

I shoplifted a Boba Fett from the Kroger on Mcpherson Church rd in Fayettenam! 9year old criminal!

i thought krogers was done years ago, been out the south too long i guess but I always held HT to a higher standard than almost any other grocery stores.  I hate whole foods and they are building one three blocks from my condo in brooklyn but 3 things i miss about charlotte are HT, chic-fil-a and cheap drinks

They say Harris Teeter will still operate under it's name, but what about the quality of the food? Will that remain the same? Will prices be subject to those in Krogers?

Based on what my wife was told, HT will operate independently.  They will keep their suppliers, contracts, etc.....at least for the foreseeable future.

Kroger knows the value of HT is with their brand name, reputation, and loyal consumer base in Charlotte.  They are not going to interfere with that.

If you support Publix, you support the Empire. Just sayin'.

Publix is annually rated one of the best employers, they pay better wages and keep there people a lot longer so if it is the empire at least it's not the evil empire!

ya have to compare shopping. i get some amazing deals with the e-vic thru HT. got a gallon of milk about 2 wks ago for 2.57.

if you buy milk from wal mart or target or even aldi's it can be MORE expensive.

for some reason, target's deli meats and cereals are much cheaper than grocery store chains. im sorta of a walking grocery app when it comes to prices. i have an ongoing price range in my head at all times.

if you always buy from the same store you are losing out on great deals elsewhere.
