Official Panthers Cuts Thread...

Hate to break this to everyone, but as I understand the rules, cuts just have to be made by 6pm They don't necessarily have to be announced.

One would think someone with a great reputation in reporting here in charlotte would get the fax and put it out there.

Then again, not sure Charlotte has anyone like that anymore.

We'll be alright, we've got the Ravens beat guy.

I thought we had any number of crack reporters who penetrate the Panther web of secrecy.

Trade your most veteran CB on a very young secondary who's a damn good nickel AND ST'er- who can also hold his own on the outside for a OL that may or may not be an upgrade over what we already have?

Is there really a need to elaborate?

Obviously you wouldn't trade him for a backup caliber lineman. But teams do this all the time. Trade a guy that is solid from a position of strength for another guy that is solid at a position of weakness (or a draft pick).

Priority one is protecting Cam, so I wouldn't rule it out all together.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
