Q and A with Gettleman

I don't know where this knock on his ability to throw came from... I don't feel like digging up the article, but he certainly was able to throw it.

IIRC, there was a pre-draft article in the observer in 2010 talking about how he tossed it 65 yards or so while being tackled or something of the sort. I never studied his throwing motion but, it couldn't have been any slower than The Golden Calf of Bristol's, and despite what has happened since, he was able to lead a team to a playoff win.

He always had the ability to play QB IMO, but I think he was one of those guys that had so much playmaking ability in space that they figured he would be better projected at a different position.

His release isn't slow, it's just average. It's not a super quick release, but his arm strength was never lacking. That guy can fuging heave the ball.

His release was somewhat slow.....weak arm, though, nope. He had a strong arm.

I saw him play for years.  He was a running quarterback who could pass not the other way around. What makes a guy like Kaepernick good is his passing ability which makes his running ability useful.    The only guy I have seen over the years who was a running quarterback but couldn't really throw that well who made it big in the league was Vick.

he's 100 times better than The Golden Calf of Bristol let me make sure thats said.

i watched pretty much every game and he didn't seem to consistently get the ball out real quick or on a rope so to speak. He may have been able to throw the ball 70 yards but i just didn't feel his arm strength would translate. of course what the fug do i know.

Remind me what level that playoff win was at?  Football Championship Subdivision or 1-AA.  Two levels below Florida where The Golden Calf of Bristol played.

Really P55? I suppose Steve McNair was total garbage then?

If they have the skills, it translates.

Name me one quarterback who starts right now in the NFL from 1-AA.   If his skills translate then why did no one want him as a quarterback and why was he only worked out as a receiver??  Edwards was never that good unless he was playing against inferior competition.  How many D1 teams did App beat with Edwards at QB besides Michigan one time?? Even then most D1 quarterbacks aren't good enough to play in the NFLlet alone a guy who played 1AA.

Even after 4 years you Edwards nuthuggers never give up. I was afraid the mere mention of him being an emergency quarterback would have you talking about how good he was.

Yeah, it is really getting tiring going into the season without a rock solid O-line as opposed to basically gambling that things will work out. While the linemen get "comfortable" with one another, Cam could be getting laid out, and we could be losing some close games.

Let's roll the dice and let the process play out... SMH

The only way to fix that is to either draft well or sign FAs. We have done neither the past decade.

Armanti got to throw one pass two different years.

He had a perfect passing record with the Panthers until someone dropped one last year I believe.

That's why it was so painful watching Clausen a few years ago, without putting Edwards in at QB.

No way Clausen was ever as good at QB as Edwards, not to mention the ability to avoid sacks.

I agree I was just to lazy to post my argument. The receivers at Notre Dame made pickles look better than he was. Michael Floyd & Golden Tate

Why did you make me do your research??  Delaware is Division 1-A which is the level above where Edwards played at Appalachian.  Good try with Flacco though.

FCS national championship game appearance 2007 makes Flacco 1-AA doesn't it?

Didn't he lose to App?

Wasn't his best game against Navy who was 1-A while he was 1-AA?

Wow... Lol... Just wow.

In one single thread you have mastered broad sweeping generalizations AND hyperbole.

Go read the entire "Goodbye Gettis" thread and let me know if the posters in that thread would label me an "Armanti nuthugger." Again, I can only lol. Less than a week ago, I was an Armanti hater. Now I'm all on his nutsack, eh?

You are a quality poster here P55, but you are way off in this thread.
