Graham Gano

I'm really happy with him. I suggested we sign him almost a year before we did. I know he had some consistency issues that he had to work through, but I thought he was a lot like Kasay in the fact that John wasn't John until he came here, otherwise he wouldn't have been available to us.

Gano seems to be following a similar path so far. Love having a kicker that can kick it from about 60, and he is such a weapon on kickoffs.

He has been a huge bright spot through the first 2+ games this year.

I'm glad we have him.

(EDITED)

Absolutely, I think in Gano we have found our long-term answer at PK. He's only 26. He's accurate and he could have made that 53-yarder from 60. He booms every kickoff out of the endzone, which reduces the risk of getting burned by a Devin Hester type. What's not to like?

    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
