Sooooo.... DeAngelo Williams......

I like Williams, he has stayed healthy longer then Bush and some others thus far. He's reliable and doesn't fumble too often like Wilson seems to for NYG. He does well for the state of our OLine. I would like him more if he was a tad bit cheaper though.

We definitely should shed one of our higher cost RB's and I'm inclined to say Stewart due to the injury bug he got. I want more $$ for Gettleman to work with.

We need to spend less money on the run game....bottom line.

Name the RB in Green Bay right now?

I was hard on Williams last year as a runner (that was separate than the contract debacle rants).....he is simply running better this year and he isn't getting much help. He is earning those.....OL still leaving a lot to be desired

Way over spent. Like Danny boy Snyder kind of jack job.

there's not really anything we can do about deangelo's contract, and the nature of it makes a trade basically impossible, so the best thing we as fans could hope for is him coming out playing extremely well; he's currently averaging almost 100 yards a game, 4.7 ypc, and currently sits in the league's top five for rushing yards.

within reason i think this is carolina's best case scenario regarding deangelo.

I've always said I think D-Lo is one of the best RB's in the NFL and has that home run threat, quickness that Stewart doesn't have.  I like Stewart a lot too and think he's a stud as well and he can flat out truck some people but I just like D-Lo's quickness and escapability.

Even today if I had to pick D-Lo or Stew for just this year I'd pick D-lo, hands down all day long.  I've never liked up splitting carries with two elite running backs.  Their just are not enough touches and most running back get in a rhythm just like other players.

Stews the future but D-Lo is the present.  Enjoy it.

Pointless to keep hating the player, especially a good guy like DWill.

Hate the Village Idiot Marty Hurney who shoved a ridiculous contract under 34's nose and asked him to sign it.

And its not like he demanded that salary.  The Dolphins were talking 28mil and Hurney was like 40mil snitches!  We keep our homegrown talent.  He has just run hard and stayed healthy.  I am glad for him and glad that we didn't cut him this summer.

    • I personally think Bryce is going to be an extremely good Quarterback for a long time. If you look at modern QB development, it just takes a while. The extreme athletes can get by early, but if you look at the trajectories of guys the last 10 years, were seeing a lot of slow-cooking. Jared Goff, Geno Smith, Baker, Sam Darnold, Trevor Lawrence. The list is long.  The guys that were truly special from Day 1 is an extremely short list. The list of things that college quarterbacks are responsible for gets shorter by the day with the transfer portal, and the college offenses. The list of things that NFL Quarterbacks are responsible for seems to get longer and longer each season.  I saw an interview the other day in which a rookie quarterback and center were calling plays for the offense.  I can't remember the team or the Quarterback, but I definitely remember the clip. It takes time, even for the smartest and most gifted, and the reality is, we have no idea how good or bad the coaching may be until we hear things we aren't supposed to hear anyway.  Bryce isn't perfect, but I saw in another thread, his biggest struggle is risk/reward. That is something I only expect him to improve upon. His adjustments, ability to read a defense, and execution have been extremely good considering our rosters in his tenure here. Our offensive personnel and coaching were both so poor his rookie year that I'm not sure it's fair to properly evaluate that at all. Since that time, all we've seen from him is growth and progress.
    • Not really.  The run defense has been solid except for the opening game and New England.  We shut Arizona's run game down, but early turnovers hurt.  And of course, we shut out Atlanta.
    • True, Bryce having a weaker arm wouldn’t be a big deal if it was paired with… Great accuracy, ball placement, etc. But it’s not.  Bryce has consistently done 2 things all 3 seasons.  One of the lowest completion % in the NFL each year,  one of the highest bad throws % in the NFL.    Then you can get into his unwillingness to stress a D and how that has allowed safeties and DBs  cheat coverage making the small ball so many QBs enjoy a tougher task.
