Six UT players unanimously say they'd want to play for Carolina

My business writing class has six UT football players in it, including quarterback Nathan Peterman if there are any Vol fans in here. The professor is a huge football fan and loves talking to the players. Just a few minutes ago he asked them which pro football team they'd like to play for if they had the choice. Without hesitation, all six of them said Carolina. I immediately quipped up and asked them why. They said that Ron is a players' coach and he is well regarded by college players across the nation; that the team has great facilities; Charlotte is a nice city; and the organization is very player-friendly.

Not making this up. Guess we have that going for us

We also have the best uniforms in the league. I think within a decade we are going to become a very very popular team. Especially if Cam continues to mature and progress. Awesome color scheme, great weather, nice facilities, a quaint yet entertaining location simultaneously. A mascot such as a Panther, represents everything a football player should be. Powerful and fast, deceptive and cunning, and relentless at the same time.

Tennessee gets a lot of NC and Charlotte area HS players. Coradelle Patterson is from Rock Hill and I recall him saying last year he was a Panthers fan growing up and he would love to play for us.

Look at their roster. All 3 QBs are from NC or the Charlotte area. They also snagged one of the top players in the state last season in Marquez North (Mallard Creek) who was a hard UNC target. They also got Maryland transfer and former Ardrey Kell RB Justus Pickett (who was a student of my Mom there too).

Georgia, Tenn, and the Gators seem to have their hands deep into the NC HS football recruiting scene and if there's a top prospect here, one of these three schools will usually land him.

I am a documented UNC and ECU fan - but when it comes to the SEC I will always pull for the Vols. My aunt has season tickets. I usually will pull for UGA vs most SEC teams based on the fact that they get a lot of the NC kids. Todd Gurley, who IMHO is the best RB in college FB, along with Keith Marshall are both from the triangle.

Oh, and F*ck Flordia.

    • Bryce hasn't done a single thing to prove he deserves to have his option picked up.  I'd have less of an issue with us declining the option and bringing him back as the starter next year than I would have us picking up that option, as that means he's on our cap books for the next 2 years instead of 1, even if he's cut before year 5. Tua threw for 3,500 yards with a 25-8 TD-INT ratio in just 13 starts the year before they picked up his option, and then threw for over 4,600 yards before they gave him his extension. Kyler threw for 3,722, 3,971, and 3,787 in 16, 16, and 14 games (while rushing for 544, 819, and 423 in those seasons) before they picked up his option and then signed him to an extension before year 4. Jones threw for 3,200 yards with a 3-1 TD-INT ratio with another 700 yards and 7 TDs rushing in year 4 before they signed him to his extension. Bryce has thrown for 2,877 and 2,400 yards in 16 and 12 starts his two seasons, while being on pace for 3,128 yards in a 17 game season so far this year. The closest comparison to any of them was Jones, who while he's turned it around this year, is someone I think everyone can agree was not a player who deserved that extension after that season. If people think those other QB's having their options picked up and/or given extensions were a mistake, in what world can you look at what Bryce has done and make any rational argument for him even being brought back as our starter next year, let alone also picking up his option that would cost us about $27 million fully guaranteed.
    • I don't think we would actually play Hooker but hopefully we also just don't see. I don't view Dalton/Bryce as a worse option than Winston/Howell. I just think we disagree on this specific subject is all.
    • I guarantee tepper would fire him if we lost out and he’d be justified
