The Seahawks pulled a stunt that smart OCs use from time to time to get that TD.

On the first play, they ran Thomas all the way downfield with one receiver, nearly got him but not quite.

Next play, throw in a fresh receiver and make the corner run all the way downfield again on the same route.

You know he's not going to have as much gas, so there's a good chance you get him on the second play, and they did just that.

That strategy's worked many times on corners way more well known than Josh Thomas.

And it's up to the safety to recognize that his teammate is being set up and be in position to help.

No. That is a huge leap of faith....coaches teach you to jump on it like Senn bc the odds are slim the scoop and run attempt works in that mess.

Senn played it right with bad results. What you are left seeing is Norman standing there trying to do what you shouldn't.

Yep, smart play is to fall on ball. Only time you would try to pick it up and run in that situation is if there is no time left and you are losing. Def not if you are winning and bout to get ball back in good position.

That play is a prime example of why you just fall on it. True, Norman could hav picked it up and returned it. However, Senn was doing what he was suppose to do. Norman was not. Play smart.

I really want Melvin to get some significant time playing. That hit he had against NYG on the TE got me going. His physicality sets him apart from Norman and Flo for that matter. If we have Cap, JT, White, and Dockery playing CB that is a very physical group. No pretty boy, dread wearing CB's in there.

norman was a dumbass. but phil alluded to norman being the one that caused the fumble. but norman did the right thing in trying to recover the fumble, he just picked the wrong way to try and recover.

Thanks for clearing it up though.  Had a few beers by that point remember seeing his jersey.

when i saw that play happen live and waited for the wider angle on the replay i was just repeating "it was fuging godfrey late getting over wasn't it" over and over in my head.

Sad to say making good judgment calls quickly has not exactly been one of Godfrey's strengths :(

people are really exaggerating this 47 yard td on jt. here is how it went down.

they ran the play jt stopped it then they brought in a fresh wr and they ran the same play because jt is obviously winded. godfrey is back there with his dick in his hands not realizing its the same formation and a fresh wr is in. they run the same play. godfrey doesn't help out like he should have been aware what was happening. jt even still tries to make a play on the ball, and misses. great throw by rw and great catch

i blame godfrey most for that play.

play is at 1:50

I wouldn't say Thomas "stopped" the first streak route by any means.  If memory serves, the WR Williams had quite a few steps on Thomas but he dropped the pass.  I think people are downplaying Thomas's coverage on the following TD catch though...I wouldn't say he got "burned" by any means.  The WR maybe had a half-a-step on him but it was pretty good coverage.  Thomas just didn't turn his head in time to make a play on the ball, so he made a kinda half-assed jump attempt at the last second.  But it was still more of a great throw and a great catch rather than a poor play on Thomas's part.  The play before that where the Seahawks WR dropped the ball though, he definitely got burned on that one.

No matter how you try to spin it, Thomas didn't cost us the game. Get over it. D-Will did.

How is getting burnt twice in a row on the same play to give up the game winning touchdown not as bad as D-Will fumbling?  Just because something happened last doesn't mean JT didn't cost the Panthers the game.
