The Official 2014 Head Coaching Search / Candidate Thread

Its official folks. The season is over. Rivera has had his chances. It is clear he is just not the answer.

JR needs to hit a home run with this next hire. Cam and the franchise rest on this hire. No expenses should be made.

Unless we wan't to waste our first overall pick, we must get an offensive guru / qb coach to work with Cam.

Dream scenario

HC  David Shaw (Stanford HC)

OC Philip Montgomery (OC Baylor)

DC Sean Mcdermott (DC Panthers)

Id make them all highly paid. Do what ever it takes!

For those that dont know about Philip Montgomery

Shaw's not leaving Stanford.  He's made that abundantly clear.

I don't buy McDermott being ready to be a head coach.

You know how many coaches have said they are not leaving?

Most everyone has a price.

Doubt theres a chance McD survives a regime change.

I dont see why he wouldnt or cant. Defense has played great this year.

    • I'd love to have Eli as our QB. He was a proven baller in the playoffs, and still a legit franchise QB who was better than the majority of the league in the regular season. Honestly the Giants didn't build many great teams around him. Put him in a beneficial situation like Belichick, Reid, Tomlin, etc. run and he could've won more than 2 SBs if you ask me. He was on a lot of bad teams, like really bad teams, throughout his career.   Hell, swap him in for Rivers in the mid-late aughts and I bet he gets the Chargers a SB. Still think that whole draft situation was bullshit and lost respect for Eli there, but whatever.
    • Yeah but if you are talking about something like an extremely rarely used or needed play like a QB sneak, it's already a pretty off the rails argument. That doesn't factor in enough to W's and L's to be something that is particularly relevant.  If you want to talk overall arm strength, field vision, footwork, consistency, athleticism, etc on Bryce, those are all valid critiques of his game and why he hasn't been successful. But the oddball obsessions about pretty meaningless aspects are a bit bizarre. QB sneaks? Not enough 40+ yard passes? Workout regimen?? Guys....there is ample stuff to criticize without this kind of nonsense.
    • Im not saying he should, but its one more play that's off the table. Do you think the eagles would be as good without the QB sneak?
