Stupid. Did you see Cam throw three ints in a blowout loss yesterday? I did.

I can count seconds. Cam held the ball for too many of them.

 

He did.  I agree...  what I want to know, and it will take someone with far more football IQ than me to say, is WHY is he holding the ball?

 

Is it his ability to read the coverages?  Something that I think has improved, but still needs work...

 

Or is it the fact that the receivers aren't getting open?

 

It's really hard to tell watching the broadcast footage because they focus on the ball, not the guys running routes...

 

There were times yesterday where Cam had plenty of time in the pocket, and didn't make anything happen.  I want to know why.

Wow...another post questioning Cam's "mental capacity"...AKA the not so subtle stereotyping of blacks being "smart enough" to play the the white guy's role as a QB.  Replace Cam with any of the other black QBs, in ur quote, and you will get my point... I know...bad habits are hard to break but it's way to obvious. Yawn!!! So boring.

 

I've been on this site for the past three or four seasons and every season it's the same boring, superficial blame game. I guess the idea of thinking outside of the box and looking at what might be really the problem with this team takes way to much brain power. Simply blaming the QB or coach, cause you to shallow to look any deeper says way more about you than it does Cam's mental state.

 

When fans like yourself focus so much attention on one person and expect more out of him than the rest of the team that tells me you know your team SUCK and is looking for someone...anyone, to rescue it instead of demanding more from the team as a whole.

 

I am saying that he is a third year QB and is still having issues reading defenses and going through his progression quickly.  I am not saying that he is not smart enough to master these mental aspects of the game....only that as of now he has NOT mastered them.

 

Intellingence....work ethic...etc.  Not sure what is the cause...just that he has not made the next step in the pregression of an NFL QB.

 

I was told by one of the Panthers coaches two years ago that Cam struggled to read defenses....and it looks like he still does.

 

As "fans like myself"....ones that can take a step back and evaluate our QB without homer glasses on.  Most of you sound exactly like the ignorant Falcons fans did when they have Vick as their QB.  They made every excuse in the book for him...OL, coaching, WR's etc.  However, the Falcons had the exact same WR's and OL when Ryan was drafted.....and their offense tooka  huge step forward.

I think he has improved...

I think what hides it is he cast around Newton has declined every season

You never see that happen, only in Carolina....you draft a franchise QB and each season have a worse cast around the young QB

This is the worst supporting cast he has had( talking starters who play not bench warmer).

Let's his supporting cast get weaker counters a lot IMO

I thinks it's about time that we all realize Cam is not the answer. Blame everyone else all you want, but Cam is as much to blame as anyone. None of us know why he is regressing, but I don't see him overcoming these bad habits. It's happened to many very good QB's in the past and I'm afraid he has fallen in to the same trap.

The bottom line is this: Panthers are 1-3 (feels like 1-4), so are essentially out the playoffs, again. 

 

And this offense and defensive coaching staff (once again) cannot make any adjustments during the second half of games, meanwhile some of the worst teams in the league--that they're playing--do. That's the bottom line.

I don't have that much issue with the scheme.

It's the personnel that bother me, the OL (other than Kalil and a healthy Silatolu) and the receiving corps (outside of Smith and Ginn) are both big issues.

The receivers aren't helping Newton stat/performance wise, but the bigger concern for me is the OL getting him killed :(

Honestly I think its both. With this group subtract Ginn, Chud put up 30 on teams every week.
