Dominant Secondary

4. Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have the third-ranked defense in the NFL, and a big part of that is the play of their secondary. Corners Josh Thomas and Captain Munnerlyn have proven to be elite tacklers at their position, and the Panthers have only allowed 68 points this season on pass plays, second-best in the NFL behind the Chiefs. (More on Kansas City to come.)

Lol. I had to post it.

They've played well overall but it has a lot more to do with the 7 guys in front of them. Good to see them, and the team, get some recognition.

Secondary is part of the reason....and RR's scheme.  Notice how USA complimented the secondaries tackling and not coverage.  I think we are the 2nd worst team in the NFL in allowing underneath pass completions......our guys are tackling well when keeping things in front of them.  Newton (ESPN) referenced this in his Double Coverage column.

The reason we suck against dink and dunk teams is RR's D gives that one aspect to teams.....we don't really try to stop it.

Or maybe others know a little more than we go. We are quick to undervalue certain players on this team....LaFell, Captain, Godfrey, etc

Not sure if serious.  Maybe it's just a coincidence, but our secondary started playing a lot better when he went out and Mitchell slid over to FS.

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
    • Didn’t get around to watching this one but looks like Pistons played their starters and actually tried…? Unlucky that they sit vs Magic, etc and try vs us. Hopefully we can beat the Heat and then Magic or 6ers with no Embiid. BUT if not, the NBA really should give us the lottery win this year like they did Mavs last year. Another high pick could be our final missing piece and have us as legit top contenders next year and going forward if we’re healthy. Or trade it for a Giannis type
