Regarding the Falcons game and the playoff picture

Recommended Posts

It's worth pointing out that the two teams currently slotted into wil card bids, Detroit and San Francisco, are on bye weeks this week. So is another team in the wild card mix, Arizona. The other team in the hunt, Chicago, plays Green Bay.

A win against the Falcons ties our record with the Lions, puts us a game ahead of the Cardinals, and either ties us with the Bears or puts us a game up (go Packers!). Not sure how the tiebreakers work out.

That would also set us up next week for a chance to not only tie our record with the 49'ers, but go ahead of them with the head-to-head advantage.

Basically, a win against the Falcons puts us dead in the middle of the post-season conversation and puts us in position to jump in the driver's seat. I know every game is a "must win" game but.....

....this is about as must win as it gets.

Yep, we gotta have this game and then at least split the next two.  If we can only pick one, I'd rather beat the 49ers and lose to the Pats rather than the other way around.  At least that way we hand another NFC contender a loss.

If we can get to 6-4, then things get really interesting.  If we can't get to at least 6-4, then our goose is probably cooked.

If we win out, we win the division.

That's what I'm looking for

If we win each game left, we will make the playoffs, win the division, win the NFC, win the Super Bowl.

It's that simple really, no more losses.

I vote for this option.  Who do we need to contact to make this happen?

    • well, players dictating things only works if you have the right collection of players to dictate things.  and in all honesty, not sure if we can answer if we do or don't as fans given......there are no Thomas Davis types around that we know are actually about X and Y (based on years showing it).  Collective team is too new to us to know what these dudes are really about in terms of players carrying the burden of culture.
    • Moore can be put in one of the vet spots on IR. No one will be checking for him at the start of the season. But I would be very perturbed if we tried to go all Gettlemagic and stash an obvious talent like Horn on practice squad like we did Butker. If we can get through this year, next year it will be obvious Moore and AT will be gone, starting namely with AT's contract.
    • Culture change comes from the top down, not from drafting a 3 and no D guard. I doubt Lamelo is gonna take his cues from this 20yr old kid lol. If Brandon Miller couldn’t change the culture with how good he is and how much he hustles on both ends, Kon Knueppel sure as hell ain’t changing it. Ace Bailey by all accounts is also a great teammate and hard worker, btw, who was drafted by a team he supposedly didn’t want to go to yet he immediately bought in. And he’s got actual length and tools on both ends of the floor. I feel this pick is going to age like milk rather quickly.
