Yes, you read that right, the Chiefs offered to take Tony Gonzales, who was in his final season, a 5th round pick from the Falcons, and the Falcons REFUSED.

The Falcons are done, with or without Gonzo.  They might as well had pretty much taken a free 5th rounder, and allowed him to at least have a chance at a championship in the place where he spent most of his career.  It would have been a class move, but we're talking about the Falcons.

They didn't make the trade simply from a business standpoint. You make that trade and your telling your team and your fans that the season is over. Can't have that. I knew they wouldn't make the trade unless they were mathematically out of it. Washington started off 3-6 and made the playoffs. That has to be their mindset, you can't give up on the season when there is still hope

As someone who lives in KC (Panthers fan, Chiefs observer), I continue to be impressed at Tony's Teflon-like ability to not come across as a whiner with this 'trade me to a contender' business. I understand he didn't outright say that here, but wouldn't every player prefer to play for a winning team? He played on plenty of winning teams in both KC and Atl, so not sure what gives him a pass.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
