Official Panthers - Patriots Gameday Thread

I think today is one of Cam' s biggest games of his career. Beating the patriots on prime time is a statement game. I think the whole squad takes it to another level tonight. We need to pull away from the rest of the NFC for the wild card. Stomp these guys out!

When it comes to the gold standard of NFC defenses, it’s 28 years later and we’re still talking about those 1985 Chicago Bears.

You remember, right? They dominated and shuffled their way to a 15-1 season and 46-10 rout of the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX.
A member of that defense who helped beat the Patriots was a young linebacker named Ron Rivera. Now about to face the Patriots for the first time as head coach, his current team, the 2013 Carolina Panthers, stacks up well statistically to those ’85 Bears.

Obviously, at 6-3, the Panthers won't match the Bears’ record. But given their play, they should already be inspired by the top AFC defense of all time, the 2000 Baltimore Ravens, who went all the way to win Super Bowl XXXV as a wild card. Like the Bears and Ravens, with Mike Singletary and Ray Lewis respectively, the Panthers have that necessary do-everything, hardnosed anchor at middle linebacker, Luke Kuechly.

When it comes to passing challenges, what Marino was to the Bears, Tom Brady is to the Panthers. With Drew Brees also around the corner for a pair of games, we’ll soon find out if Carolina could be finer than even the legendary Monsters of the Midway.

    • My tailoring green idea was not for him to be the starter but to add some value beyond just a developmental quarterback I think size speed is something Bryce doesn't have he has those and would immediately feel the fourth and one package and possibly red zone and some power packages for us
    • Do you have against Willis I believe you're around when we have the draft with corral and Willis were on the board and me personally I was banging the table for Willis as early as round one but a lot of people thought corral was better but it's amazing with a little coaching and time can do with me I always go with potential and upside versus oh the guy just plays football you know sometimes that's not enough
    • I know or needs and this probably isn't with a lot of people want but if he's available at 19 I don't think you can discount that he would be the best player on the board I think with 43 speed he's as fast as leggette. 63240 something he would stretch the field  Strike fear over the middle of opposing linebackers and also probably cure our long time history of no serviceable tight end since Greg Olsen I think a lot of needs like tackle maybe linebacker could be filled and free agency to the point like they did last year where we fix a lot of this and draft the best player we can on the board.  After his combine and the numbers in the 43-in vertical I'm not sure that he will be available but if he is I bet that he's highly considered what say you
