Great breakdown of why call was correct

How many bad breaks have we had in the last 3 seasons.  Drops, fumbles, pentlies that cost us games.  I can't even remember.  I don't care if it was the right call or the wrong call.  For once the breaks went out way and I don't feel the need to justify it.  I know we won and thats all that matters.

thanks but I need no validation - we kicked ass fair and square

this.

it's in the books.

a win is a win. there are no asterisk wins. you can't change the outcome by arguing or debating.

it us what it is....a win. there is no debate or justifying that needs to be done. all the defending that needed to be done to preserve the win was done on the field. none needs to be done after the fact.

Great GIF of the play:

All you need to know: at the point where Luke comes into contact with Gronk, Gronk is still moving further to the back of the end zone, and Lester is already breaking forward to the ball. Lester's making that interception 99 times out of 100. And the odd ball isn't because Gronk catches it, it's because Lester drops it.

Uncatchable. Not PI. The end.

100% correct.

The thing I noticed today after seeing it at nauseam on all the NFL shows is that Gronk didn't even react to the ball.  Lester made a move and undercut the throw before Luke mugged him.  It almost looked like Gronk knew it was short and didn't have a chance.

Listening to Young and Dilfer talk about Gronk being able to make a play on it was ridiculous.  He would have had to toss Luke out of the way and run through Lester.

I've said it a million times but if that flag doesn't get thrown nobody would give a crap.  9/10 refs let things go on the last play for this very reason, so it doesn't come down to a call.

The ref was correct to initially throw the flag because he's just looking at gronk/keek and seeing that there's contact, which obviously there was. The fact that there's contact is only half of the call though. If you watch the ref he IMMEDIATELY calls over the other officials afterwards to discuss whether the ball was catchable or not.

The ball was well short and intercepted. Gronk was running a route towards the back of the endzone and never had a play on the ball, never even attempted to come back towards the ball and make a play on it. Because of that it was ruled uncatchable and thus no penalty. It's really not that complicated. People are acting like the refs decided there wasn't contact, that's not the case.

To Gronk's credit after the game he said something along the lines of no excuses, we just flat out got beat, they played better than us.

I will same I am happy with the call. However, the call was awful. It would be one thing if they never threw the flag, but they did. If the play was the other way around, this forum would be on fire right now.

So you're assuming the official who saw the interference and threw the flag also saw, at the same time, that the ball was uncatchable? Nope. That's why there's 7 of 'em on the field.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
