You saw last night what we need to do to beat this team. They are not a physical team, we need to hurt them.We must run the ball and with Hartsock back, we should be better on the ground, have to wear them down until we start breaking long runs..no turnovers and stupid mistakes.We don't have a Sherman on this secondary so we have to get pass rush from the front four.Seattle had 30 runs and thirty five or so pass plays..we need to copy this formula to beat them Sunday. We don't try and get cute.....just follow the formula that the Jets and Seahawks used. Our Dline is as good as both of the above...time to step up and take control.

Am I the ONLY person on this board who is not the least bit worried? We swept them last year, and we're better now while they are generally the same. And they just played Seattle, and nobody wins the week after playing Seattle. And it's Cam on the national stage, a formula that has meant his best games.


As long as we show up focused, we win this one and it ain't even close.

I hope Deangelo plays in this one. Say what you want but he has a history of ripping off big runs and screen passes vs the Saints. Hopefully Hartsock returning helps our running game. The Saints are more of a finesse team, so having to tackle Tolbert when he's up to full steam will help wear them out. We better be well prepared for their screens but I think our interior push is going to give Brees fits. Beat em, burn down their stadium and pour salt on the ground

How are they generally the same?

They are better this year than last. They went from having the worst D in NFL history to a top 10 D. That makes them clearly better.

Plus, they have Payton who is one if the best offensive play callers in game

The thing that concerns me is that the Saints will be thoroughly pissed off on Sunday night. It will be redemption time on their home turf in another nationally televised game.

I don't think a loss before the season ends would necessarily be a bad thing either. It would humble us before we make a run in the playoffs.

While the Saints got pummeled in that game in Seattle....

........I saw things about their team that is worth nothing.

We all know given time that Brees is deadly in the passing game............but.

Their offensive line is very good at trap plays for run blocking.........and they have some power in their backfield.

To beat them we need the secondary to blanket a cover man to man enough to allow our defense to put pressure on Brees.....

Brees is like Brady lite.............you pressure him and he folds even faster and harder.

Cam needs to consider some pass options and sweep runs to keep his running available to pick up some first downs....that will drive their game plan nuts..........

The two biggest weaknesses of the Panthers is our secondary speed route coverage of deep balls....

.........but our biggest short coming is the inability for our Oline to dominate a trap play opening for the run......only occasionally will we run the ball up the middle with Tolbert and get yards.................

This is not good.....

The foundation of a championship team is the O line ability to trap block for those north south running games.....

.....this keeps the defense honest and if it is successful it opens up the passing game and scrambling for Cam too..........

Right now we are ripping off wins without that factor...........and we can continue to do that.......but to go deep in the playoffs every team needs to have that kind of O line trap blocking.

When did this fan base get so damned cocky?  It's starting to get annoying.  I think we absolutely CAN beat the Saints, especially if we go down there and punch them in the mouth.  But, to say that you aren't the least bit worried to play against Drew Brees in New Orleans is certifiable.

 

That or you do not pay attention to any other team besides the Panthers, which is fine I guess but it makes our fan base look stupid and cocky.  

 

I'm worried about this game however, I'm ok with the outcome because I really feel like this team has some character, heart, and has the tools to make a strong playoff run.

 

The best part about the Panthers right now is that this wasn't even part of the plan.  Gettlemen was setting them up for the future and it turned out that the future is right now.  I think its awesome especially considering the holes we have in some important spots.  I mean we have a former defensive tackle playing guard right now for a 9-3 football team.  We had an undrafted rookie starting in the secondary up until this week and have a former kick returning specialist making plays in the passing game.

 

You add some depth on the offensive line, a couple starting caliber corners and a dominating wide receiver, this team could be good for a while.

      Wonder if we draft a RB. Seems like a lot of eggs in Brooks’ basket right now.  And the OL, no kidding. If that running game goes to hell with what we have at QB, you can forget competing. It is so much more important than sticking another wideout on the field. Take your wideout later.

      I have lots of different thoughts on it. This argument, the primary thing is I don’t like seeing him or anyone, being convicted on hearsay and/or pure speculation. Which some are doing.  I don’t care That much about defending Morgan as I do about the criticism being fair minded.    You sort of assert that Dan was just a yes man. I don’t think we know if he ever pushed back against Fitterer but I have this instinct thing that needs me to satisfy the question of: if Tepper was so down on a Fitterer as to fire him, why in the world would he hire his carbon copy? I guess maybe he wanted a yes man.Like I said, lots of different thoughts.     I am just not gonna judge him that harshly based only on speculation. I am sticking with what he has done starting when he was hired as GM. Maybe I am more lenient because the first season for him and Canales, I gave both a pass. Said I would judge them after the first year. Stuck to it. If you can get to the reality that neither were ready for the job and say okay give them a year get their feet wet, it looks a lot better.    And we are not bound to Bryce yet. Yes, for yet another fuging year he can probably marginally improve and slide by like he has been doing. But if they add even more people and he regresses? I think we could see some relief.    The QB room? As I understand it, Pickett was Canales’ choice. If we need to blame people for poo. In a sense, he is very Bryce like. So makes a good plug in. I get that a little bit. We still have the draft. If they do better than Jake Plummer or Hooker I’ll know they are trying.
