This season the Panthers have allowed a touchdown on only 32.1 percent of opponent’s red zone drives (27.8 percent during the streak). Not only is that best in the NFL this season, it’s the best percentage since the league expanded to 32 teams in 2002.

Red Zone D!

Wait, the defense has only allowed opponents to reach the redzone an average of twice per game? Holy crap!

Another interesting stat to look up is how many of those redzone visits occur in the opening half.

I know in the past two games this defense has put the sleeper hold on the opponent.

If we end the season at the 13ppg allowed mark it will be more impressive than the 10 ppg allowed mark the Ravens set in 2000.

That's the truth, no homerism. It will never get the recognition and anyone who mentions it would be laughed at nationally, but it is more impressive. I'm not saying this defense is better, but that mark is more impressive.

The league had changed dramatically since then. The rules have drastically changed the game. I still can't believe we're only allowing 13ppg. Ron Rivera is a defensive mastermind. And to think, 90% of this fan base wanted him gone for 18+ months up until a few weeks ago.
