Here we go.....Jets next...huddle game plan to win this game

Jets have the number one run defense, we just lost a back and our running game is not all that great. We have a hard time pass blocking on a consistent basis and Cam will probably be pressured often.Do we rely on our D to get the job done and win a low scoring affair....you know the Ryan boys are swapping notes. How should we scheme to win this game...a loss would be a bad body blow to this team.

Speaking of preseason defense... where has THAT been at this year?  We were forcing turnovers left and fuging right in the preseason.  Of course our defense has been fuging great this year, but damn that Chicago, Steelers, and Ravens game was a cocktease.

Lol what'd we have like 5 or 6 defensive TDs in 4 games (really 3 since we got whooped in the Eagles game)?

Dwill had 13 carries for 52 yards last week. The Saints TD at the end of the half forced us out of our game plan.

Up until the New Orleans game we were #1 in the NFL in forced turnovers per possession.

Haven't checked it this week yet but we are still likely near the top.

Yeah I know we've had a damn great defense this year and I'm not complaining at all, I'm glad... I'm just saying we haven't really seen that Baltimore game level of nastiness since... the Baltimore game.  The Giants and 49ers games are probably the closest, albeit for different reasons.

I don't know, I guess that game just had me hyped up for some next-level kinda' poo this season.  Been holding my breath and waiting for a complete takeover like that again.  What'd we have like 34 points or something and only score 1 offensive TD - if we even scored 1?  I can't remember.

Well, it probably has something to do with vanilla preseason offenses being executed by players that may or may not be on the other teams' rosters come September. All in all, the D has done what it's supposed to do, and that's a far cry from what was going on this time last year!

Tell Cam that if his internal clock hits 3 seconds, he needs to bolt, or he is going to have a defensive player wrapped around him.  Encourage him to use his legs to extend plays and roll him out of the pocket.

Utilize Tolbert more in the passing game.  Have him run the routes tht Olsen ran against New Orleans.  He is much better after the catch.

If we get pressure with our DT's this game, I think we win by a lot.  Put pressure in Geno's face and I think he makes some mistakes.

This is not a team though that we need to let hang around.  We have to put this game away by the third quarter.

    • I like what Freeling brings to the table all around. If he is willing to put in the work he has an opportunity to be one of the better Tackles in the league down the line. Hunter Brazzell and Hecht are all premium additions but development from our staff are the key to unlocking them. Hopefully Lee and Wheatley will provide much needed additional depth to our secondary. Beyond that it's important not to get too caught up in draft grades. Many drafts over the years that turned out to be really good were not fawned over with praise. While some that were ended up being historical duds. Panthers fans ought to know this as well as anyone. In conclusion...
    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
