Updated with a shiny new poll!

What are your thoughts on this move?

I didn't like the decision at the time, and I definintely didn't like it after Cam took the sack.  The defense had been playing well.  Take the 3 points to go up by two touchdowns essentially.

Bad Riverboat, bad.

I was cool with it because it would still be a 2 possession game regardless and Rivera wanted to end the game then and there. Actually I believe that kind of move is the reason why he is Riverboat Ron.

That's the general argument....but I would counter that the Jets are much less likely to score two touchdowns, or a TD and two FGs.

The risk was not greater than the reward IMO.  The move could have really cost the Panthers but luckily we pulled out the W with a blocked punt and the INT score.

100% agree with Coach. 10-13 isn't a big difference. Two touchdowns and we would have lost the lead no matter what. Ron trusted our defense. We have up a long scoring drive to the Jets but, in the end our defense stuck it out and got us a W.

Correct move IMO.

If you embrace the whole "Riverboat Ron" thing......then you have to accept it simply will have to utterly fail on occassion

TD there was stepping on there neck and ending it.  FG doesn't do that much and doesn't change it from being a 2 possession game.

also, Riverboat doesn't call the play only the decision to go for it.  I think Shula has been "off" in recent weeks in the redzone.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
