My mom's side of the family is this Saturday... My dad's side is next Tuesday...  not sure when my wife's deal is, but if any of them told me Sunday, I'd be like... "sorry... y'all have fun"

I actually ran into the same problem the last time we played the Saints. Family wanted to get together and I had to basically watch the game on my phone via NFL mobile. Hell wasn't the word. Good thing that game was over relatively fast.

I would never choose the Panthers over family. My family also loves me enough to never put me in a situation where I would have to make a choice like that.

It was my girlfriends grandmas 80th bday last Sunday and she knew to not even ask me. I don't think it's a big deal either, 16 Sundays of the year (this year maybe more!) I like to watch football. I don't think that's being selfish or being a d!ck. 16 days out of 365 isn't too much to ask for.

Turn your phone on airplane mode and do not turn it back on until youve watched the whole game. Also ask everyone around you to please not mention anything about the game if they might look up the score or anything.

 

So set your dvr and then change the channel before you leave to the disney channel or something so you dont accidentally turn it on and see highlights before accessing the game. (I've got experience at this poo if you cant tell)

 

I occasionally have to work on Sunday's and I literally go through the exact same process. Hasn't failed me yet...

Tell them that you are absolutely down to take part in any plans that they may have made, but that you are devoted to the Panthers and you will be watching football during that time. 

 

Dont dance around it. You are watching it regardless, so best let them know in advance.

 

This but don't ask permission. Walk in, say hey to everybody, 15 mins of chitchat...then grab a beer and sneak upstairs to the TV. If there are any kids or males with testicles they will be planning the same thing anyway.
