You guys notice how chippy the Saints were with our receivers last game?

They abused our WRs last time. Ginn got knocked around alot too.  I'm all for being physical but we don't need anyone getting tossed or a bunch of 15-yd penalties.  Rivera needs to keep that in check.

No poo it didn't work.  We had like 4 or 5 flags thrown on us for either PI or defensive holding.

Not sure the Saints had any flags thrown on their defense.       Most of their penalties was on their offense...  for holding.

I think the saints had 3 penalties all game and we had like what felt 50. They def get bias from the refs on there home turf. Just like the Cowgirls and Pittsburgh. Its why they suck ass when they are not allowed to cheat.

Does anyone know whose crew is officiating this game?

eta: looks like it could be John Parry's crew. his crews are usually very friendly to the home crowd. Home teams win slightly more than the league average when his crew officiates

-he was the ref of the chiefs' 1 penalty game against us last year @ KC

-was the ref when we played @ AZ this year

-among the top flag throwing crews in the league in terms of flags per game

-IIRC, he once flagged a team for roughing the passer as the QB was scrambling, so my guess is brees will be very protected

Saints had 5 penalties for 45 yards vs Panthers had 5 penalties for 35 yards.

Not exactly seeing how that favors Saints "cheating" refs when Saints were penalized more?

Here are the game logs from all his games this year, his last was Minn vs Lions, 5 vistor penalties vs 11 home team penalties. They're many games were it was more more visitor penalties than home and vice versa, but no pattern seems apparent.

Here's a great writeup on how Parry may affect game

When we last glanced at the NFL referee report, John Parry's crew was leading the league in total penalties called (accepted and declined) as well as penalties per game. Parry's rate has fallen a bit since then, but through 11 weeks of the season, his crew is still the most flag-happy in the league.

As the chart shows, the range between crews is significant. If you draw Parry, you're getting a group that is calling nearly 18 penalties per game. On the other hand, you could get a crew that is averaging nearly 40 percent less. Peter Morelli's crew has called an average of 11.2 penalties per game, while Bill Vinovich's crew is at 11.6.

.....

Why is Parry's total so high? We can start with offensive holding, which accounts for 39 of the penalties his crew has called. Boger (34) and Corrente (30) are also pretty strict in this area. On the other hand, Morelli's crew has called 16 offensive holding penalties, while Leavy and Mike Carey have 17.

A good sign that the crew for Sunday will be calling more holding penalties.  It seems no matter who the opponent, that Hardy gets held more plays than not but it rarely gets called.  Now if they call all the mugging the Saints were doing in the secondary, it should make for an interesting game.
