Looking at Kuechly and Davis again--statistically

I normally don't start threads, but I expected more "fuss" about the defensive performance we just saw from our 2,  3-down LBs.

Combined, Thomas Davis and Luke Keuchly had 38 tackles.  That is 47% of the tackles made by the defense.  Think about that.

The Panthers had 2 interceptions.  Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly had 2 interceptions.

I am not sure that I have ever seen a duo of LBs have a better game.

New Orleans ran 81 plays and controlled the ball for 38+ minutes.  To put that in perspective, the Panthers ran 44 plays in about 22 minutes.  The NFL average is about 65 plays.

Cam may have the superman celebrations, but Thomas Davis is superman to me---and Luke looks like him,

dude

Considering what our defense did and has done, no apologies.  Cam really is not superman, he just pretends to be because it is better than "discount double check."  we realize that right? I will say that Cam's drive showed me that he is very capable of being an elite NFL QB--the next generation of Brady, Manning.  It was awesome.

Have a good Christmas, Rum.

Yes.  He is franchise to me now.  I could not be happier.  I still say he was not a franchise qb last year.  He always had the potential to be, but he was not there yet.

Note that his numbers are lower now than they were when I was criticizing him.  He has the same line, the same WRs.  The defense has made him a better QB, IMO because he can afford to be conservative and wait for his spots.

I realize that he is banged up a bit, but that last drive, the way he stood in the pocket, stepped up, and threw the WRs open was special.  The way he did not flinch when the blitz all but had him and still threw a perfect pass to Hixon.

My comment was not intended to disrespect Cam, it was a reference to his trademark gesture--

You must have sat behind me at the game yelling Sir Cameron Newton: Leader of Men, Lover of Puppies...Esquire. He's had these drives against the 49ers, patriots, and dolphins already this year.

Cam just done his super man thing but you know he is giving credit to Kuechly and Davis.

Yeah I'm surprised the performance of those two isn't getting more praise period.  I can honestly say that's the best one-two punch of linebacking I've ever seen in an NFL game.  They were just fuging dominant yesterday (along with Hardy).

It pisses me off that one of the greatest linebacking performances you'll ever witness in a single game is getting NO national attention because everyone is talking about how fuging Tony Romo squeaked by and managed to not fug up against the worst goddamn team in the league at the last second.

Apparently Tony Romo actually managing to win a game in December is a bigger story... and people wonder why the overrated-ass Cowboys get so much hate.

More people need to know about Thomas Davis' story.  I'm hoping the playoffs get him a little more recognition for what he had to fight through to come back and play at the level he is playing at.

If he were on a major market team, he would be all over the media.  I'm sure he is fine with quietly going about his business, but more people need to take notice of how great a story this is.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
