Give up a 2015 1st round pick for franchise WR?

Depending on the severity of Smith's injury the team might have to move up in the first round to get one that they feel can come in and be a number 1 WR. I think they need to draft a few anyways because Smith is the only one on contract after this season, but if he's seriously injured then there really isn't a healthy WR going into next season on the roster.

And the thing is most have him going in the 3rd round range, this WR class is being projected that deep and not That many people will be snatching up WR's.  Luckily for us WR is our biggest need.  Could possibly get a #1 WR and still get a shot at grabbing him as your #2/3 in the 3rd.   Benjamin and Mocrief with Smitty in the Slot is my wish list.  Cam gets sacked a lot but has some solid time and scrambles to get more not many teams would be able to blanket a trio like that for a coverage sack.

I like Moncrief a lot, I think he will be a stud in this league

Panthers would be absurdly good if we could pull that off

Damn I really hope Gettleman has that in mind, That wake forest kid (Campanaro) would be a good late round pick as a slot wr for the future

no. too many holes. we have to try and be as well rounded as possible. Cam can mask some WR deficiencies.

but im not saying don't draft a WR in the bottom of the first round. in fact i expect it.

That's how QBs start pressing and become injury prone. This team need a face at WR. I watch SF draft Jenkins late in the 2012 draft, he's already on his way out of the league. Late rounders are too hit or miss. We need a sure thing to make this team a superbowl contender. A prolific offense can make up for so many holes. Those FGs we've been kicking lately could all be TDs.

No, id rather take my chances with whatever Gettleman has cooked up. He has pretty much played it smart so far. BPA at pick 32!!! We don't have many holes, but we don't need to trade away 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rounders. Unless there is a legite, hands down, Calvin Johnson type receiver... then no.

We have a decent OL. Many of the sacks came by WRs not getting open and teams can play man-to-man press coverage on us at will. A franchise WR would force them to play zone and waste a spy on Cam.

The wake kid is good but what would rather just lock up Ginn and use the late pick on something else OL, DB. RB, etc.

Ginn has been solid.  Best returner we've had since Smitty was back there, and even though he has had a ton of Drops, but also had some Big catches and is improving.  Keep him waiting under the wings still learning under Smitty until he retires in a few years, then he can jump in the slot spot.

it really depends on whom you're talking, but generally no.

I mean if it got us Megatron, lol, then yes.  but there's no way it would, so... No.

I don't think it's a good idea to trade future 1st/2nd rounders for prospects unless you are absolutely sure on them.  I don't know, I'd rather draft where we can and get that extra player.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
