Officially Concerned about the Offense

Cam's accuracy has been an issue all year and a lot of our WRs have bailed him out on numerous occasions.  Funny how some of our receivers are jumping to catch the ball when they don't even have to.  You heard the commentators talk about it for numerous weeks now.  Cam's a great quarterback when he gets his head out of his ass and doesn't think too much about it.  Just play.

That TD ball he threw to Olsen yesterday was insane and would probably crack a rib of most of us.

Cam in his postgame interview said it best..."we have to get better".  These NFC teams all look scary right now.  Only team we cannot face is the Saints.  So that's the Packers, 49ers, and Eagles...ugh.

This is absolutely obvious to us, so I am positive it is obvious to professional coaches.

So the question is, why is it not being addressed? Are they worried for Cam throwing quick picks? Are they less worried about Cam throwing the deep ball because, well, its almost like a punt anyways if intercepted.

I think you nailed it. Lass accurate passes result in inceptions . He can be so accurate on some throws and sails it high on others.

Please don't hold back, give us some examples. I can't recall one time during all these game I got up out of my seat and said "wow what a catch" before I said "wow what a throw".

The offense scoring 14 points against the 27th ranked defense in the league who was also missing key defensive starters is an awfully bad omen.

Deangelo running for 3.3 yards per carry against the leagues 31st ranked rushing defense is pretty bad.

For a ground based methodical offense to lose the time of possession battle by nearly 10 minutes is scary.

If not for Cam's legs and ability to make clutch plays this offense would be absolutely horrendous.

Top issues with the offense in no particular order:

- Lafell's inconsistency

- Byron Bell (self explanatory)

- Lack of sharp, quick passing plays and hot routes.

First of all getting too concerned about only scoring 14 offensive points against a division rival who was very  pumped to ruin our playoffs and in whose house we are 0-5 against in the Matt Ryan era is hardly something to get concerned.

Atlanta played the best game they have played all year particularly on defense and we still won.

As for LaFell being inconsistent and Bell being bad, gotta totally agree.  As for the lack of quick passing and hot routes, that is on Cam  who needs to be willing to take what the defense is giving him like he did earlier in the year. he seems to always want to make the big play instead of taking the easy yards.

Some of it is fixable and some we just have to live with until we can fix it.

Am I worried about the offense?  Not any more than I have been all year long.

everywhere shula calls the offense, this is the result.

hard to believe it's a coincidence.....well, you think it would be hard to believe. homer vision does some funny things.

btw, i think execution is a huge problem. that right side of the line is bad, esp. bell.

the receivers have a lot of ill timed drops and the QB takes a while to settle down (tho when he does he's elite).

it juat seems funny that he has yet to run an offense that ranks in the top 20.

I'm tired of hearing how they have to settle him down and how he was to excited at first. That poo needs to go. They need to do a better job easing him into the game.

Was watching NFLN this morning and they discussiong team match up between the Panthers and 49ers and which team has the chance. They went to the defense and they said, both teams match up well on that end. They then got to the Offense, and although they said that the Panthers can give 49ers a run for their money, it was clear that Coin have way more reliable weapons then Cam. They seemed more focused on Cam being the strenght and was taking that for granted with the attitude of, he can make up for the weaknesses of this team's Offense.

I believe the best way to take a serious look at your team is to ask an honest question, if Cam threw 4 Ints, would the team be strong enough to win? Dalton and the Bengals won big despite him throwing 4 Ints yesterday. Palmer did the same and his team came back and beat the Seahawks. I also believe that Matthew did the same thing this season and the Lions came back and won.

I believe this team has the heart to win but do they have the weapons and consistency of those weapons to overcome Cam  having a very bad day.

The playcalling changed or the execution changed?  Seems to me that Cam has the opportunity to change the play and use more hot reads and quick passing at anytime.  He is very involved in the playcalling.

So you agree short passes/screens/etc would help Cam get settled in and help the offense, right?  Not saying that's ALL that's wrong with the offense.

however, you contend that cam is the one refusing to call those plays - yes?

do you think he is ignoring his OC and just calling alternative plays rather than those, but just so happens to go to those plays during 2m drills (for what reason?)?

Atlanta played their best defense against us? What a coincidence.

And also, they weren't all that pumped up. I'd say they were very average as far as energy and enthusiasm goes from what I saw first hand.

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
    • Classic example on what AI is not currently good for.  It will create a baseline of statistics (which are fine but must be used alongside tape and other evals) and partner that with every rumor mongering dips*&$t on the web.
