Supplemental meal shakes

SCP

Recommended Posts

I started working out again a few weeks ago, mainly running and light lifting. Building mass is a thing of the past for me so I am just trying to burn calories and trim down so my penis looks bigger. I'm eating a light breakfast and basically a salad or turkey sub for lunch but was curious about shakes. Can you guys recommend any shakes that I can use to supplement breakfast and lunch? Are there any that work? Also if the side effects include elephantitis of the penis that would be good.

what is your goal for adding shakes? To feel less hungry during the day? decrease soreness?

I like optimum nutrition for all my shake needs.

Just want to replace a meal or two to reduce calorie intake without feeling hungry. Right now I'm doing a small breakfast, maybe oatmeal. Then a Greek yogurt and some Kashi Go lean as a 10:30 snack. And then a sub or salad for lunch.

I agree with the optimum nutrition. Specifically the pro-complex formula.

Also a local company that I liked for ready made shakes and protein bars was Oh Yeah. They are located here in Charlotte and have some great products.

The problem with shakes, and I guess part of it is mental, is that they never really fill me up. I can get in 50 grams of protein and it's like nothing. I'll usually have one and a piece of fruit, but I'll still be hungry.

ON does make a good protein, no real aftertaste, taste really clean. It'll get you a decent amount of protein, but whey is fast absorbing. If you go powder, try and get a blend of proteins.

Fresh is always best until you get tired of making them.

I just recently got back into heavy lifting and cardio as well. It is important to eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day rather than a large one here and there.

For breakfast now that I intend on cutting off 20lbs while gaining muscle mass I usually go with a piece of fruit, a couple egg whites/or 1 cup of kashi cereal and slim milk, and a protein shake with one scoop whey and water.

Prior to lifting I usually have a few ounces of thinly sliced chicken breast from the deli with lettuce and tomatoes on the healthiest wheat wraps I can find. I'll even cut the wraps in half to avoid some of the carbs. Wouldn't hurt to grab 8-12 all natural almonds or nuts without salt or added flavoring.

Immediately or as soon as possible after a workout, I down 6-8oz. of chicken breasts, a side vegetable (usually asparagus, sweet potato, or broccoli), and two scoops of whey. That should hold me over until dinner.

For dinner I try to eat between 5-7pm and usually have another 6-8oz. of chicken breast or a small lean ground beef burger wrapped in lettuce rather than a bun and topped with onions and tomato, a side vegetable, 1/2 cup brown rice.

A couple hours before bed I'll have another scoop of protein in water and depending on how hungry I am (usually very hungry) I'll snack on some hummus with sliced cucumber or baby carrots.

It sucks in the beginning and I'm just starting this eating regimen and workout. My body feels starved and I'm always hungry but it is important to stay consistent and set goals for yourself. I'm not big into counting calories but rather just make sure everything I put into my body is beneficial and healthy in some way. Whey protein shakes rarely fill me up so it's important to pound water as it helps make you feel full and doesn't add any additional calories or sugars. There are some calculators online that you can use to determine at your height, age, and weight how many calories you take in daily which is known as "maintenance caloric intake." To really lose weight you need to figure out that number, and begin eating maybe 200-400 less calories than that number a day.

i think if you eat smart you get your protein from what you eat instead of trying to drink it. i don't like that ratio for the human body.

get a good natural drink, be it fruits or veggies and even other items and that perfectly supplements what you need without your body searching for nutrients elsewhere.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
