So who is going to test drive a $60k Kia?

Their goal with this is probably the same that Hyundai had with the Equus. Not to turn a profit, but to prove they can build a car that can compete in quality with a luxury car.

Hyundai only built like 7,000 Equus cars, and they did so at a loss, but profitability was never their goal. It was to improve perception.

Not true.

They only imported about that many to the US.  The Equus has been made for Asia for years.  I traveled to Korea numerous times on business and the high end car services were all using them instead of BMW's or Mercedes....and this was several years before they started selling them here.

They are a fantastic car.

Kia vehicles are just as good as Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Toyota, etc. Just like all the high end vehicles made by those companies are just as nice as anything made by BMW or Mercedes.

Vehicles are no different than clothing, shoes, electronics, etc. It's all about the name & brand recognition. I could name 100 sets of headphones that are cheaper than Dre Beats (which suck for the money) & have them beat in quality 1,000x over. It's all about status.

Most people would take a BMW with 150,000 miles over a brand new Kia.

We have a Kia Soul and really like it.

I'm not buying any $60k car from any manufacturer so it's moot for me.

If I was in the market I'd consider a Kia though...

My Mom has a Kia Sportage, it's a very nice car! I've not found anything wrong with it and she's had it for several years.

I just don't see that many older models of either Hyundai's or Kia's on the road... despite the warranties both offer.

You do realize that Hyundai upgraded their product only about 7 years ago?  Or that they have some of the highest safety, quality, and approval ratings in the industry?

Nah...betting you don't.  We will just chalk this up as another in a long line of ill informed and flat our wrong posts that you make every day.

Carry on.

    • Facts it's still crazy that they made him sell over that especially considering what some of the other owners have done.  JR was a rich 80 year old white man from the south I'm not at all surprised about him making some "inappropriate" comments about what a woman is wearing water is wet what a surprise. That's just the way things were done during his time, and he should and did get punished for his actions by paying some hefty fines, but it definitely wasn't something that he should've been forced to sell his team over.  I'll never forget him insulting Peyton Manning during a negotiation, reportedly belittling the quarterback’s knowledge of player safety and asking, “Do I need to help you read a revenue chart, son?
    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
