ideas for Defensive FA signings

This is Not!! I repeat Not another Greg hardy thread so please continue to read.

We all know defensively were pretty well set but not so at corner and safety, with Mitchell coming back and (I assume that's going to happen) we need another safety and atleast one possibly two (depending on price) starting corners, possibly a DT also if we can because Colin Cole coming back is highly unlikely and the four man rotation helped our d-line big time last year.

The only mention il give to hardy is the list does contain free agent DEs so pick a replacement if you like, this is a good indicator as base salary and cap hits are included, so we can pretty much justify a price and likelihood rather than to just throw a players name in the pot and thinking all madden!, Jared Allen and Michael Bennett I've heard on here aswel as Talib and other big names but that's not going to happen there to expensive at this stage of there career and we do not have the cap space.

My ideas below. Obviously not all of them maybe one per need, per position.

Corner: Sam Shields, Alteraun Verner, EJ Biggers, Vontae Davis.

Safety's: TJ Ward, Quintin Demps, Malcolm Jenkins, Major Wright.

DT: Clinton McDonald, Brandon Deadrick, Cam Thomas.

DE: Justin Tuck, Lamarr Houston.

All these guys are salary friendly and are affordable even with our cap problems, and would upgrade the secondary tenfold! Have a look guys and maybe you have other suggestions or names to add, I will try to do an offense thread also.

I wouldn't call Alteraun Verner or Ward affordable.

Also, I mentioned in another thread, Mitchell is by no means a given coming back especially if we come to terms with Hardy.  For how much he may want (which could be over 4 mill / year), he could be replaceable.  But I'm just spitballin' and am in most cases wrong :)

This defense and this team has to look appealing to a free agent DB.  The #2 Defense in the league and who is under contract right now?

SS: Lester

FS:

CB:Wjote. Thomas, Norman

This team has a legit shot to go to the super bowl.  If I were a DB, I would want to go where the front 7 gets it done.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
