With the news of Jordan retiring, how does the Panthers proceed in the Draft?

It's the same BPA out of OL, WR and secondary.

I don't think this was a surprise and i don't think their board has changed. WR not an emergency given the depth in the draft. I think as far as talent the drop off @ CB is the biggest so that could be a focus. we don't need another 3-5 rd backup CB.I think  what we have now is depth and this is the time to get a starter talent.we need to finally replace Gamble.

BPA. There are good OT FA's that I think we can get at least one of. As Gettleman has said, BPA and fill voids through FA. I really think we should go WR in 1st, corner 2nd, then BPA after, and get Nicks in FA, and then fill both spots at OT in FA, all while keeping Hardy. We've got the money now, so this should be a fun offseason.

When we drafted Kuechly he was not at a position of need.  Last year while Star was a position of need he was also the BPA.  Short clearly wasn't as a position of need but on our board he was BPA.  We will do the same this year as well.  When you reach you end up with busts plain and simple.  While we won't be the first one jumping into free agency when the first wave settles we wil be a player this year and I expect we will pick up wide receivers as well as O linemen.  But as rivera said, the best player might be on the roster already.  I wonder for example if a guy like Chandler could play right guard and Wharton play right tackle is we need him to do it. With Amini back all we need then is a left tackle.

Keuchly was a position of need with TD and Beason questionable.

When you reach for busts get busts when you reach for a good player he is still a good player. Where one is drafted doesn't change how he will play.

It really doesn't change anything regarding the draft.  There is no way you rely on two draft picks at the OT positions, so we need a vet to go along with a rookie.  And we were always going to need an OT in the draft anyway, so our draft focus will stay the same.  Heck, we were going to have to pay for a FA vet LT regardless...either Gross or someone else from FA.  And while Gross would likely not have asked for the moon, he wouldn't have taken the vet minimum either.

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
