Panther's Cap at $19-$21M not $29M

@Jason_OTC I have the Panthers in the $19M range for cap room as well. I don't know where $29M came from.

@ColinWFNZ @Jason_OTC $117.27M in '14 cap obligations with $6.01M in carry over from '13 doesn't add up to $29M in cap space for Carolina.

Saw the #Panthers updated cap figures yesterday. They are about $21 million under the projected $132 million cap.

I had the Panthers with more space in past tweets/updates. Shoot the messenger.

Goes to show the Overthecap.com and Spotrac.com numbers have been closer than people give them credit

"Carolina arguably has the worst salary cap outlook of any team in the NFL moving forward. The team has around $102 million committed to the 2015 salary cap with just 29 players under contract."

Scary outlook. 29 includes Smitty and Godfrey though and also doesn't include14 players that we'll get in the 14 and 15 draft (plus any other UDFA's that are kept); also doesn't include the needed money to sign them either. Here's hoping the cap climbs to 140 next year and that we hit really well in the draft.

    • He has attempted 8 shootout goals in his NHL career and made 1. He is among our worst SO guys on the entire roster in terms of career stats.
    • Against Miami, the Panthers were behind by 17 in the 2nd quarter facing a 4th - 5. Young completed a 21 yard pass and they went on to score 7 on that drive. Then in the 4th, down by 4, they faced a 4th - 5 and again, he completed a 17 yard pass and they went onto score a TD for the win. He also accounted for 2 of the 3 TD's.  As I said, he got them in that mess and no doubt, Rico gets credit as well, but missing on either of those 4th down conversions hands the ball over and results in 1 or 2 less TD's giving them a loss. As you said though, that's just a small quibble. The real question is how does the FO see it?  I am guessing they see it as something to build on. I think most peope here see it as a total loss and fully expect the FO to see it that way as well. Time will tell.
    • Kochetkov is just too streaky. TBD if Freddie is doing that too. Freddie is the more reliable goalie over his career. The Bussi kid looks like he could be a solid #2 eventually.  Just need to figure out the #1 guy. Same as almost every year. It's not talent, it's consistency and being able to step up in the playoffs.
