Huddle opinion....who agrees with the complete overhaul we are seeing

I was okay with it and kept telling myself ..."at least we have the draft."

Problem is, every other team gets draft picks too.

That's actually part of the strategy I believe. After the draft, once teams have locked down the players they wanted in the draft, some of them will have a glut of good players at a position and they'll have to make some painful cuts. We're going to have to shop from the bargain bin for a little while longer, but I believe in Gettleman's ability to evaluate talent and get us what we need to make us competitive.

The thing that pisses me off the most, is the fact that Josh Norman will somehow still not play during the regular season despite grabbing 5 INTs in preseason yet we will witness Josh Thomas get burned over and over again and do stupid ish constantly if we do not upgrade at CB.

Dude. Josh Norman is garbage.

I believe in Dave Gettleman even though many of you think I'm crazy or naive or stupid. He is going to stick to his principles and I can respect that. Making unpopular decisions isn't easy, but sometimes you have to do it. I do not like the situation we are in, but if we continue to draft well and find cheap talent, which he has done so far, we will be a good team.

We still have our most important pieces.. we have the best pass rush in the NFL and the best middle linebacker. Cam needs to make the same type of improvement from year 3 to 4 as he did from year 2 to 3. Our coaching needs to continue to improve like they have been as well.

Dude. Josh Norman is garbage.

People thought the same damn thing about Nortman after his awful first year. Norman can improve, and I sure as hell would rather see him on the field over Thomas. Besides getting burned that game in Buffalo, he never really got a chance to play. Would have liked to see him late in SF instead of Thomas. He at least would not have drawn a 15 yard penalty for throwing a punch.

I agree that it needed an infusion of talent at the WR and OL positions. I'm glad we are letting all of them walk because they sure wasn't worth the money they got. I'm glad Gettleman is being patient and not overpaying out of panic. There is a lot of time and options out there before the first game of 2014 is played. We retooled the D a bit last season, now to the offense.

The Oline hurt us because they were injured and underperforming and then one of our mainstays left.  I am sure Gman tried to get him to go one more season, but Gross is happy not being in football.  He lives for his family and not ours, I am fine with that, but the timing hurts.

The WR's were weak as a group, very weak.  "cam has on weapons" was a year long mantra here.

The only thing I wish we could do further is to flush the RB's also, but, that cannot be done at this time.  One next year and then one after that.  Just in time to maybe squeeze in Cams extension and then Keeks.

Or, we can load up on the same old tired Ginns and Caps and pay them a lot more than they were being paid when we hated them and watch our O and D leaders ride off into the sunset.  Now, who would you rather lose?

Ginn is very replaceable and we did go after Collins. We have no clue how aggressively we pursued him.

Apparently (according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, I believe) we offered Collins a similar (in the same ballpark) type deal as the Bucs did, but he went to the Bucs for more $$ (probably more guaranteed $$) and more years.

This is also the guy who traded away a future first round pick for Everette Brown and a future second rounder for Armanti Edwards.

To be fair, the jury's still out on those guys. Could still turn out to be great deals for us.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
