Amini to LT ?

I swear to f#$#$##$ .....

Do you guys actually watch line play?   Please if you have any games where Amini played saved on game pass or Tivo or whatever please watch him in pass blocking situations.  I double dare you to watch 2 games of his pass blocking and then say we should start him at LT.    Please don't give me that ..Amini improved speech that everyone gives.  Or the Amini has potential, and just a rookie yada yada.  Just honestly watch him pass block and then tell me what position you think he should play.

hint:  It won't be anywhere on the left side of the line.

You guys should read Ross Tuckers piece at mmqb.

His point is left guard is much easier to play in pass protection than right guard. Chandler starting at lt while we broom a rookie at rt might not be as stupid as it first sounds.

I'd rather give Chandler a shot if we're going bottom feeding. Amini is just starting to adjust to guard. Chandler was solid at LT in preseason, albeit against scrubs.

I agree that Chandler would be my first choice if I were selecting someone presently on our roster to play LT. Wharton would be my second choice.

I think Nate Chandler is best suited for that spot. Practiced at LT through last years camp. We need Amini and Edmund at the guards. For the love of god just get a mauler at RT

I can't get that idea out of my head.  They keep talking about his athleticism--I am not sure he is the favorite for RG.

Should have picked Cordy Glenn

Bills LT Cordy Glenn was responsible for only 1.5 sacks in 2013.

Glenn made major improvements in pass protection in his second season, grading out as the No. 11 left tackle by Pro Football Focus. He was also among the most durable players in the league, starting all 16 games and leading the NFL with 1,180 snaps.

He looked good at LT in preseason game 4. Very good. He truly doesn't have the base for drive blocking a DT in our scheme at guard. I think he could handle ends and he shines in space. I wouldnt line him up on the strong side at RT either though. We need a tight end and RT who can level people to be honest. I think strongside runs were our biggest weakness last year

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
