Just a little perspective

Just to get this out of the way, I'm not happy about Smitty, and I think Gettleman may be making the right decisions but he hasn't really shown me a lot around the people skill department.  With that said...

Figure we have a rookie receiver with promise, and a veteran who's maybe got a year or two left in the tank (like Smitty).  We've got Williams and Stewart both healthy, Tolbert back, and the two guards that we should have had last year.  SOMEONE will be able to step in at LT and while they probably won't be as good as Gross, that's not the same thing as thinking they'll be a turnstile.

So basically, Cam, our RBs, Olsen, and some receivers that don't scare anyone.  Can we move the ball?

Or really, is there anyone out there who believes we won't be able to?  Seriously?

It's an interesting approach that we cannot analyze at this point in time. We need to see what the team looks like come week 3-4 of preseason to judge the "Gettle Magic" this season.

I am torn about Smitty not playing in a Panthers uniform this coming season. I view it as blasphemy! Whether the team was winning or losing, you could always count on 89 to go hard on every play and get his peers fired up in the process. His energy was contagious!

With all that said, it looks gloomy now, but I do believe we are waiting to sign these Free Agents towards the beginning of OTA's... The FA's value will go down since no one else is looking at them, but they could still be productive. I see us still being competitive, but I would be SHOCKED to have similar season to 2013 at this point..

Only time will tell....

I dont really understand OP but I think it says we suck but we are still good.   If thats the case then yeah!  I am with it.  Good Thread

Even with average receivers, we have enough to move the ball.  As long as we have Newton under center, there's no reason to think we won't be able to score.  That's my poorly made point. :)

By average receivers you mean guys that have never started and have not been active on game day?  I am all for giving guys a chance but I suspect this is going to be ugly.  I hope I will eat my words....

The past two years those same pieces (Cam, our RBs, Olsen, and some receivers that don't scare anyone) were average, ranking 18th in scoring. Yeah there is still plenty of time to improve but looking at the roster today, there is plenty of reason to worry.
