64 Folkerts, Brian - dave freebie, found in tryouts. got the call and stuck, development type
67 Kalil, Ryan - best current OLmen, no more needs to be stated

71 Kugbila, Edmund - could be a pro bowler or cut before OTAs

81 Pilares, Kealoha - ginns replacement for kickoff returns. was 5th in NFC for kickoffs. wildcard slot filler maybe

sum WR- most in NFL only have 4 active on game day. sign one and draft at least, that should go along ways here.

47 Brockel, Richie - could be the new special team captain. very versatile and all teams need guys like him
Jefferson, D.C. - dave freebie, arizona 7th rounder could be the answer in two TE sets
88 Olsen, Greg - best current receiver, hard worker. never whats to leave the field. true pro
86 Williams, Brandon - has to shown something now.

TE sum- plenty of competition and the adding a draft pick/s isnt out of the question too

3 Anderson, Derek - top ten backup and very cheap
1 Newton, Cam - whooooooaaa CaM

sum QB- keep cam healthy and nearly anything is possible

25 Barner, Kenjon - could be a kickoff returner if pilares fails. double trouble insurance
28 Stewart, Jonathan - tour de stew'...... his pass catch ability would sure come in handy if he could get on the field. im very curious as to how mike shula uses him
34 Williams, DeAngelo - currently getting less than 2 million in salary and people think hes overpaid. hes likely here til 2015
35 Tolbert, Mike - lifts with OL, great in pass projection, great on all type of 3rd/2nd/1st downs. great versatile weapon

RB sum - very talented group nothing more is needed

24 Norman, Josh - time is nearly up, either show improvements or pink slip
22 Thomas, Josh - hes cheap, could regain a starting gig
23 White, Melvin - dave freebie, best corner last year
Antoine Cason- has rivia and wilks ties, former first round talent

CB sum- those 5 are not bad or great. draft should add competition. front 7 covers weakness. they have the best DB coach in the biz

30 Godfrey, Charles - still here... should be either redo contract or june 1st cut
Harper, Roman - old school in the box safety good biltzer too
42 Jones, Colin - ST team hawk, one fast white boy
38 Lester, Robert - could learn the ropes form a fellow bama safety

98 Lotulelei, Star - a prime-like kris jenkins player, cannt wait to see season #2
99 Short, Kawann - improved as the season when on, great value pick for the panthers

DT sum- one spot is open, could be filled with the Canadian farm beast/cole/draft pick/other

93 Blackburn, Chase - great backup and has no issue playing ST
58 Davis, Thomas - had a as good or better season as the DPOY
56 Klein, A.J. - example of BPA in drating works. should be a starter in 2014
59 Kuechly, Luke - DPOY LLLLLllllluuuUUKKKKKKeeeee
54 Williams, Jason = unlike senn hes a solid backup. seems like he bought into being a STer

LB sum- could add one or two, but what a pair of aces.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

9 Gano, Graham - lead the leagues in touch backs, also average a 19.7(better than touch-back) on kickoffs returns. maybe strongest leg in NFC
8 Nortman, Brad - i hated the pick and after year 2, very happy to be wrong. cheap and can change the field position, a punt isnt a bad play.......
44 Jansen, J.J. - doesnt make mistakes and can make a few tackles to boot

ST- nice to see this group as a strength rather than the horrors of years past.

"stuperbowl players"/wildcards

Zordich, Michael FB - i keep hearing the notion that hes already on the 53, i reverse judgement
Russell, Anderson S - final roster cut last year
Bersin, Brenton WR -cutting jerrys lawn gos along with a team that needs WRs
Gaydosh, Linden DT - surprising mobile and super strong, can he hold off the comp for a spot?
McNeill, Mike TE- need to add 80+ LBs to become new LT..... nah but hes a blocking TE
McDonald, Andrew OT- miami kept him around for two years and the panthers need LTs
Smith, D.J. LB- played real snaps for green bay a couple years ago, has a spot open on LB if his knee is fine
Roh, Craig DE- hard worker can play inside.... maybe if weight is added 3tech DT
Menzie, De'Quan CB - has talent good for competition
Presley, De'Andre CB - sleeper of DBs, could turn heads and fill a spot.

sum roster- total is 47 -/+ one to five players. add in the draft picks(plus UDFAS and daves dumper driving pickups) = your 2014 panthers. sure talent is needed and that will come, but the OLmen, DBs, and WRs isnt as bad as ones thinks.... i hope so.... the DLmen, cam, RBs, STers, and LBs can carry the team and cover weakness.

I also appreciate the effort & think you were very accurate with your assessment of the team. I think where set on D & if we can add another starter on D for the future where set up nicely for the future. To many panther fans are freaking out & we haven't even played a game or gone through the draft or all of Free Agency with June 1st cuts. I actually love that Gettleman believes in developing young players & giving them a chance to play. We have major Cap issues people just need to chill & be patience. Still good write up.

    • I just want to see a big guy with an NFL certified cannon arm suit up for the panthers again. To me, it will show that they are at least  trying to take the QB position in the direction it needs to go.   Will he throw picks? Yes. Probably a hell of a lot, but (for now) I’m strangely ok with that… for now. I at least need to see a dude that CAN make the throws with some semblance of accuracy.  This is the time to see what the QB whisperer is made of. The offensive talent is there. It’s certainly better than most rookie/journeymen QBs will ever step in to. If he can get a random dude playing at a JAG level, then I might be sold.  Andy could really surprise in the Buffalo game. He (for now) still has enough arm for Tet and XL to show what they’ve got, but we all know it’s only going to be good for 3-4 games, max. He has vet savvy, and that does account for a lot. He also has a full week of practice with all the snaps to prepare.  My best case scenario going forward: Andy plays the next 2 games nobly (winning one would be a huge bonus) giving White a chance to learn some of the playbook and develop chemistry with the players. Serviceable Andy turns in to old man Andy in game 3 and White takes the field after halftime.  A high ankle sprain (lol, sure it is) is an injury that can buy the team a LONG time for BY to ride the pine…. Maybe even IR. His peak trade value is now. Get what they can for this albatross. He’s now shown that he can be a mid level backup which does hold a significant value for the right team.  Not even in my wildest dreams do I see White being anything more than a JAG, but that’s ok. JAGs with a big arm make great bridge QBs that at least won’t have your play makers stagnating. Keeping BY under center is a 100% recipe for stagnating high ceiling (Tet/XL) dudes and/or not allowing them to take the next step in their development. Why even practice the good half of the playbook if the QB can’t make the throw? After a while, you’ve now got high ceiling guys who can only run a limited route tree. No thanks.
    • They both outstanding players and both had monster games against Jets.  We gonna need it again this week with the bills.  Go Panthers!!!!
