Has this week calmed your Gettle-fears?

After a tumultuous beginning to free agency, things are looking up for our Panthers, with the signing of Cotchery and the reported deals with Underwood and Cason.  This shores up two of the three positions most of us were most concerned with, with good veteran presence and upside, giving us a little room in the draft.

So given these signings, are you a little less worried?  Is it time for "Gettlemagic" to return to non-sarcastic usage? ;)

Its obvious that all the hate was triggered by releasing Smith. The media didn't help and unfortunately it seems like most of the huddle bought into it. If you don't think gettleman knew what the backlash would be, you're insane. Hell he told everyone what his plan would be in his post season press conference.

This week has done a lot to calm my fears. Gettleman seems to have gotten doppelgangers for all the role players we lost: Harper for Mitchell, Cason for Florence, Cotchery for Lafell, Underwood for Ginn. Then I imagine he expects either Godfrey or Lester to take over for Mikell, and King or McNutt to take the #4 WR spot of Hixon's.

Now all we need is a number one wide receiver and a left tackle. Those positions aren't important or anything, right? But if we go WR in the 1st and OT in the 2nd or vice versa, I think this team is in a good position, if not better off. So yeah, I'm feeling a lot better this week, then say, the day Steve Smith was cut.

no, still need to see what else he has in store............won't know until after the draft or how the recent signings perform

still alot to be done

As far as the roster itself, I was a little worried when we didn't land Nicks, because I think he could have been a key part of our passing game for years to come, but I'm pretty happy with our FA acquisitions. I think most of us knew we'd be losing a lot of FA this year and have to pick up more from the bargain bin, and tbh I'm pretty happy with our signings so far.

    • I think the leash will be short, regardless, if he has another "comfortably" losing season. By that I mean, not really ever a threat to be 9-7.  People forget that Tepper's track record is getting losing HC's out of here ASAP. The chances of him stomaching more than 3 losing seasons is almost zero.
    • I don't think that Tepper would put Canales on a short leash much less a super short one for 2026, in regards to QB that is. I get the feeling that Tepper is learning that patience is necessary in this game and that allowing DC to finally get his guy and put him on a super short leash that very year makes little sense and is a recipe for continued wheel spinning. He'd at least wait until 2027, with 2028 being the cutoff. This is not to say that if the entire team looks like sh¡t this season that Canales and Morgan won't be canned or on a short leash in 2026. That could be considered "reasonable."
    • Some of you guys already know this. I know you know, but you're trying to make CMC out to be a problem child. That's far from the truth. Why can't you say something like,"Good for Christian," or just don't say anything if you hate him that bad? We're supposed to be a smart fan base, right...?
