For anyone saying Gettleman never considered him I promise you they consider and look into EVERY free agent. They even scout players under contract with other teams so they can be ready in case they are cut or put up for trade. If his going rate was only 1.5M and Gettleman still didn't want him that should tell you all you need to know about what he thought about him.

Usually the first year(s) of a new GM aren't credited to them for fault or success. Our best players that year were the core that Hurney left. Hurney made huge mistakes, signed awful contracts, but he also gave us a lot of star players.

 

Britt for that cheap is hard to pass up. There's been many "headcase" players that have turned it around.
