Aaron Hernandez back in the news

what were they?

i've had some talks with him about it. and this is obviously going to come across elementary but the gist is that he came to the conclusion that their are some genetic predispositions especially when you are talking about psychopaths/serial killers.

did some profiles on some, researched how their parents raised them, talked to some scientists, ect.

big signal is children killing small animals.  many of which grew up in great, loving white suburban families. there is a lot more to this then just that. but the environment around them suggests that nothing influenced them to do this. there is some tripped wire in their brains. and that suggests some sort of retardation. (not like herp derp poo)

obviously petty criminals is a lot different (being poor, living in close quarters, ect). but when you are talking about someone like aaron hernandez it's a bit different. would be interesting to see how he was raised/or if the gang lifestyle influenced his behavior. i'm thinking it's the latter for him though.

that probably sounded dumb but i was amazed and freaked out by some of the stuff he told me.

no such thing

That's not necessarily true. Psychopathy has been proven to show up in genetic testing, which puts one at greater risk of becoming a criminal due to the tendencies of a psychopath (and a sociopath).

I'm not saying that you can be predisposed to be a criminal at birth, but you can be genetically more likely to be a criminal due to personality disorders.

Your not born a criminal. Also criminal is relative to your environment. For example, a 9-month old was arrested and booked in Pakistan for attempted murder.

You can be predisposed to all the crap you want but genes are activated by certain stimuli. If Hernandez had grown up where I did I highly doubt he would be the way he is.

Thats all there is. Humans have to learn how to be decent. Watch two babies play, you'll see theft, assault and harassment, guaranteed, every time. Its only when they come of age and are taught to share and not hit other children etc that they learn decency. Humans are inherently selfish, amoral creatures, we need to be taught otherwise.

Most accurate statement I've ever read on the huddle.

Location, location, location. Environment influences behavior. Yadda, yadda, yadda, jibber jabber, and rabble, rabble, rabble. I certainly can't throw stones. But, I have seen folks grow up after their first fright. So who knows with these kids?

Ah hellz, nvm.

agree, but IMO having a disposition that's at odds with social norms isn't the same as being a born criminal

I agree wholeheartedly. But, if you are born with a severe, often-violent, personality disorder, it would seem that it would put you at greater risk of becoming a criminal... Whether by you realizing it or whether it's caused by some psychosis.

    • We’re past the talk and hypotheticals with Bryce. If he needs a perfect game from his receivers to not put up a stinker he’s not franchise starter material.
    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
