99.9 The Fan in Raleigh will have Mike, Tripp and the gang throughout the playoffs. If you are not in the triangle broadcast area, you can listen through the Canes website or the TuneIn app. The ads on TuneIn can be annoying, but I've found it much easier to sync up with the TV broadcast than through the Canes site.

That's why when you have the chance to draft a C who could possibly hold down the position for the next decade in the second round you take that prospect and run. Instead we let him go to Pittsburgh.

Xavier Legette is the face of the NFL at the Kentucky Derby
frankw replied to LondonderryPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel like it's impossible not to like and root for this guy. Seems like a fantastic teammate to have around too. Hopefully he and TMac will be having a good time motivating one another to up their respective game. -
The NFL didn't force him to go do it, so while he partnered with the league on it, yes, he was there on his own accord. And again, I'm not saying it's a problem for him to be there, but in retrospect, if he doesn't show improvement this year, things like this would be a bad look to do this while the rest of the team is in Charlotte the past few days. I have no problem with players building their own brand off the field, but given how visible he's been this offseason doing random/weird stuff, he better back it up with improved play, that's all.

Speaking of horse racing, if you don't realize how dominant Secretariat was, go back and watch his Belmont Stakes. Only four other horses even bothered to show. He won by like a quarter of a mile. He still holds the record for the fastest Kentucky Derby. He won by two and a half lengths which doesn't sound all that impressive until you realize that the the second place horse is still the second fastest Derby time ever and only other horse to finish in under two minutes. Every horse in this year's Derby was a direct descendent of Secretariat. His Kentucky Derby time would've translated to winning by about 15 horse lengths yesterday.

I have more faith in XL improving than I do in Tmac being a true number 1 recuever -
Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge. Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely. Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player. Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE. Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive. Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft. This weekend we get a small look at these rookies

You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game. But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.

Jaycee LOCKDOWN Horn is due for a breakout year

Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind. Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike! -
Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018. This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker. Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball. It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen. He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud. Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired. Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.

I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year. It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
-
Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him. Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process. I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
-
Oh are they on the radio?
-
My question about Bryce is still the same one that made me make him qb3 in that draft. Does his happy feet keep coming back like it did in college and his first two years as a pro or has he finally gotten rid of that issue. If he's solved his happy feet issue, then he should turn into a good starter... If not, well the Panthers will be drafting another QB really soon.

I believe this is the part where someone says "puff puff, pass".

I try to sync the tv with the hurricanes broadcast.

I'm not so sure when it comes to Smitty. He didn't say anything about what he heard til well after the draft. Also Smitty didn't completely hate picking WR so much as the one picked. Think he had T-Mac ranked 5th among WR, 6th if you count Hunter.

The next Great White Buffalo. -
Im still hesitant on Bryce. Needs to get us out of drafting in the top 10. If we are, I go QB.

This is the NFL. It chews up and spits out players of all sizes, strengths, and ability. It is unfortunate that Cam's career was short. I knew when we drafted him, if he never evolved his game, his career was indeed going to be short. None of this takes away from Cam. He was a beast. He was a natural leader. Unfortunately this league took it's toll on him as it often does to the majority of players. Luke. Morgan. Reason. Most running backs. Many many many quarterbacks. No players, no positions are protected from the injury risk this sport carries.
