I don't get it, he had 2 sacks last year
-
I don't disagree, I mean imagine adding a high lottery pick that we hit on to this group. But yeah I think this team can make a run and all the young guys need to get playoff experience sooner rather than later. The games are different and that experience will be important once we are finally ready to contend year in year out and view seasons as Championship or bust.

Phillips at 30 or Lloyd at 20 Ill take Phillips at 30 over the Lloyd 100/100 times i really wanted Oweh. Wanted more of a pure pass rusher but this is an Evero scheme fit. This scheme isnβt great for pure pass rushers. So if we move on from Evero after this seasonβ¦

Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips
CarolinaRideorDie replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dan the Man has a plan! Since Dan has taken over, he has been aggressive in tackling each team's weakness every offseason. O-line year one, D-line year 2, Pass rush year 3. -
That's what I was thinking...think he immediately makes Brown( and Scourton) even more effective. Makes teams pay for double teaming
-
How does guarantees work if someone retires? This guy retired as a sophomore in college. If he gets injured again, I could see him hang it up. Also, I like him as a person and player.
-
The best ability is first, availability and Phillips has missed over a quarter of his possible NFL games due to injury. Burns has missed 3 total games in his career.
-
He turns 27 in May so he'll be 27 this football season
-
It really is if our young guys develop some and he leads the way our line could be crazy productive as far as rushing the passer.
-
He exploded in Philly when they paired him with Jalen Carter after trading for him. Hopefully he keeps it up with Derrick Brown.
-
Dan Fitterer strikes again.
-
Damn. Certainly risky. If he's a real dog and brings more attitude to the DL I'm gonna hope for the best.
-
i must be missing something seems a ton to pay for him
-
Burns better without a doubt
-
-
On the flip side. 73 total QB pressures last season. 9th best in the NFL

The Eagles had Jaelan Phillips as their priority, but the Carolina Panthers gave him an incredible amount of money. $120 million with $80 million guaranteed according to @AdamSchefter Albert Breer @AlbertBreer Β· 1m The Panthers lurked as a Jaelan Phillips suitor over the weekendβand get it done on a 4-year, $120 million deal with $80 million in guarantees to pry him from Philly. Carolina viewed Phillips as the best player, regardless of position, available in the entire free agent class. Best case long term may be losing in the play in and getting gifted a top pick that the hornets definitely deserve. That said I'd rather them make the playoffs because these guys are talented enough to beat any team 4 out of 7
-
Looks like a pretty big overpay.
-
Wow thatβs a huge pickup for us. Really frees up that first round pick for BPA or OL or trade down and accumulate picks
-
Leave it to Dan Morgan who missed so many games in his career you'd think he'd miss a game because of a hangnail to sign a very injury prone linebacker.
-
Heβs good but 120 million good nah . We had a guy thatβs better but didnβt want to pay him . Huddle is Philips better than Burns ?
