Wanted to put Bryce in the game manager tier, but can’t, because Bryce will lose games for you. We’ve seen that firsthand. I don’t know whether to put him in that backup tier, or bust. He’s likely a bust.
-
Any team watching film of the Panthers has a chance to fall asleep at the wheel like GB did. Even Olsen called it playing with your food. That and conference foes will equal another win even if it's ugly and dumb.

Where does Bryce rank on the all-time draft bust list?
Captroop replied to MRenshaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe, but I think you can chalk that up to sunk cost fallacy. Jawalrus was #1 overall, so it was a little easier to justify moving on from him than #1 overall + #1 overall + 2nd round pick + DJ Moore. If Bryce had only cost us the #1 overall pick in 2023, I firmly believe his benching in 2024 would have been the end of the line. -

Ok, we ain't making the playoffs unless something insanely crazy happens and plus it's November, time to start planning for the draft this spring. Pretty simple, list our positions of need, address in the draft (or left to FA) and round we should draft that need. Currently we have 8 selections, the actual slot in each round still to be determined by finishing order, but I can't see a huge swing one way or the other. (This as of Week 10) Needs: (no particular order) ILB, CB, DL, Edge, S, QB, IOL, OT Rd1: ILB/EDGE Rd2:OT Rd3:Edge/ILB (opposite of round 1) Rd4:S Rd5-a:CB Rd5-b:QB Rd6:IOL Rd7:DL

Isn’t XL the player Nicole Tepper told Canales to trade-up for during draft day?
-
Yeah it is along the lines of ‘fraud vitiates everything’, it just prevents an honest assessment. You got guys with some acknowledged issues, really swimming upstream due to the quality of the QB. I think back to game two this year when he got a lot of targets and was unable to do anything. When you look back nothing, or maybe one, was in a decent place for him to get. I think it was week two. And ‘a lot’ maybe be overstating but there were a few.

There are 5 tiers of NFL QBs
PleaseCutStewart replied to Carolina Cajun's topic in Carolina Panthers
The 5 tiers are: Elite Very good Average/game manager Bad Bryce Young -
That jives with my theory of why we don’t have a younger backup that can push him, though not so much because the players see it but because the fans would make a fuss. Imagine right now if there were one of those on the roster….
-
XL has without a doubt had his share of bad moments. But you cannot understate how awful many of these passes are and even the ones that have been better have often been poorly placed. Throws to the sideline and throws to the back of the end zone are basically off the table as passes just sail over the receivers head. Defenses have all of this on tape. It makes their job easier. Until we get an adequate passer in here who can open the entire field we cannot fully evaluate the moving parts of this offense.

Outside of maybe the road saints game, we will not be favored again this entire year. So... We will be favored once, maybe twice this season. That is pathetic

Where does Bryce rank on the all-time draft bust list?
Gregg S replied to MRenshaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a rather subjective subject, and I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone about exactly where he lands. But I definitely think he is Top 10. But even a year ago, The Sporting News had Brycie Boy at #6. It doesn't really say how they came to their rankings but it appears they may be ranking purely by statistics although the article does mention the haul we traded away to get the #1 pick. I had forgotten about some of the guys on this list. -

mav1234 replied to MRenshaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think given the trade he is probably the biggest Panthers draft bust. I think more and more people are coming around to that. But the very fact he started 30+ games means he is far from a top bust overall IMO. -

I can't remember who the poster was, but earlier in the year when we were making W-L predictions I said that I wouldn't count on sweeping the Saints and that person said something along the lines like he'd quit being a Panthers fan...or something like that if we could sweep the Saints. I wonder if this person will fess up now, lol! -
Doesn't need to carry the team. Just needs to make the right reads and do the bare minimum asked of him. Take what the defense gives you. And be able to throw more than 5 yards.
-
We historically don't win in Atlanta. We aren't beating the Rams or on the road versus the 49ers. The Seahawks are for real and it's the Darnold revenge game (we always get slobber-knocked in revenge games). Tampa is actually playing better on the road than at home this season That leaves two games I think are possible wins, the Saints and the last game in Tampa if they rest players because they can't improve playoff positioning.

Pantherxtreme started following Doubt they win another game
-
We didnt start Rico all nine games. He blew up against Miami and Dallas We had the platoon system going against Jets and Buffalo and offense looked like trash. It wasn't until after Green Bay that the formula was out on how the Panthers needed to play to win.
-
I just don’t agree. A young capable QB would be killing with this supporting cast. Bryce fugs up the entire offense. Every play is a stacked box, secondary cheating underneath and jumping everything because they know his chances of beating them with a pass over the top is lottery level odds.
-
We will definitely win one more probably two.
-
Only way we win another game, is if a team forgets to load the box. This game showed Bryce can’t carry a team
-
It's not even about always splitting with the Falcons When you embarrass a team like we did that game (although one could argue they embarrassed themselves with their play that day), and then you play them again at a point their season seems all but lost, it then turns into that team's SB game for that season. I have a feeling we not only lose, but lose by double digits
-
And a large number of fans will go nuts celebrating that win "because we've been poo for so long" instead of being able to objectively realize how winning that game hurts the franchise overall.
-
High day two is a "higher pick." I started a thread maybe three or four weeks ago and it was basically based upon Ladd, X and how we drafted the wrong guy. So, yes Ladd was actually a "lower pick" than X (but still a high second round pick), but not only was he the more polished route runner, he was just as fast, but quicker on his feet and simply more fluid, but also had better hands. Perhaps the worst thing is that he was better suited for Bryce. I was open to X at the time because I knew we were perhaps swinging that way, but, as a Georgia alum, if I were picking of course I would've picked Ladd. He was really always my first choice. I think he was a legit first round talent. Turns out, he may have been the best one (and that's just not the homer in me). Some will call it hindsight, but if you look at it critically, there was no way the likes of X, Xavier Worthy, Keon Coleman or A.D. Mitchell should've been in the discussion with him. It just goes to show, like with QBs there are legit options at receiver on day two on the regular.

I don't think you frequent the draft sub-forum, but my argument for us to draft Warren (yes, that was my draft crush) was WR classes are increasingly deep draft after draft, but TEs like Warren or even Bowers are a once a draft or once every several drafts type of prospect. If you have a chance to grab a dude like that you don't pass them up. You can get legit WRs deep into round one or even on the second day, no problem. There's usually not just one can't miss WR prospect in any draft class. At most you have one TE, if any at all, in a given draft class.
