  1. Past hour
  2. Bryce at third on offense and nick Scott at 4th on defense should tell you all you need to know about pff
  3. Canales. Dan was already in house before and is an extension of the prior outfit. He kept a lot of Fits staff. Canales hasn’t inspired a ton of confidence but I think there’s some grace to give. It’s year 2. I think a shorter leash third year would be tough, but stomachable.
  4. 100% agree the offense constantly puts the d in horrible positions. Give them a decent offense that isnt constantly turning the ball over and the defense would look alot better.
  5. It may not be entirely fair, as I think Morgan has not done a terrible job and Canales is trying to make chicken salad out of chicken poo, but I think everyone has to go. Morgan has had to build a roster while trying to clean up the disaster left by Fitterer, who routinely lost tons of value with the trades he made. He oversaw incorrect talent evaluations and made poor draft selections. And then he compounded these issues by mismanaging the salary cap with extensions, free agency signing, and other contractual decisions. I can’t imagine a poorer job of GMing. You’d think he’d have succeeded in at least 1 of these 3 areas. But the end result is a roster very talent poor across the board. With Tillis in the fold, Morgan has done a decent job on getting our salary cap in better shape such that we won’t be dealing with the same dead money hell a year from now that we’ve had the past 5 years. He seems to have whiffed on Leggette. But I think he’s done decently in the draft thus far. In free agency, it’s more of a mixed bag, but it’s hard to attract free agents to play for us without spending a lot of money given how dysfunctional the team is. So all in all, I think he’s been OK. What it really comes down to is how much of a hand he had in drafting Bryce Young. If he really was a dissenting voice in the room, then I might be inclined to give him more runway. If not, he’s got to go. We cannot know they. Only Tepper and the others in the organization know. As an outsider, I didn’t like the idea of promoting from within when the front office had done such a poor job. So without being able to know the answer to that question, I think he should get the axe in the name of creating organizational alignment with a new coach. Because…. Canales is not it. Yes he’s hindered by a limited roster, Bryce Young included. And this is coming from someone who probably falls middle of the spectrum between Bryce apologists and Bryce haters. I think with the right coach—one who opens up the playbook, one who runs tempo, one who lets Bryce rip it, and most importantly one who has the team prepared—that Bryce could be a serviceable starter. Basically, I could see us getting the Bryce we got at the end of last year on a consistent basis, rather than getting that for a few games here and there and then losing QB play the other 2/3 to 3/4 of the time. But Canales is not the coach that can make that happen. And while don’t want to make personnel decisions based off the sunk cost they is the trade and the number 1 pick, we should aim for a higher ceiling then that. With such a young and limited roster with so much turnover, you can’t punt the preseason. These guys need reps together. And you have to have the team more prepared. I know the coaches can’t make the plays for the players. It’s not Canales’ fault that Leggette can’t make an easy toe drag late in the 1st half and then Bryce fumbling on a scramble, which together derailed a drive that could have kept the game close. But it’s clear that he doesn’t get the most out of his players, in terms of their execution, and he certainly does not put them in the best position to win with his play calling. The 4th and goal call and preceding plays are probably the best example of this form yesterday. I don’t want to overreact from Week 1, but it’s really a gut punch after coming into the season actually having some hope. Not of the playoffs because I expected the defense to be pretty bad still, but to see such sloppiness and regression from the offense. I really was hopeful to see an offense similar to and building off what we had last season. So put me in the burn it all down camp. Hire a new GM, let him hire a coach whose football philosophies align with their own. Hire that coach from a winning organization/that’s demonstrated success. I know it’s not that simple. The Ben Johnson’s of the world don’t want to come here apparently. But Tepper’s got the money. Find the right philosophy in order to identify the right individual. And then throw the bag at them. Do whatever it takes. Unfortunately, I don’t know if there’s enough money in the world to make that happen. The franchise seems like career poison at this point.
  6. You know what they say about good intentions. By stacking the offense for Young and basically ignoring the defense, Bryce is going to have to play catch up nearly every game all season and we can all guess how that's going to work out. He's his best in a lead and can lean on an effective rushing attack. I just don't see that happening very often with this mess of a defense. I do feel bad for the defense and even Evero to an extent. Derrick Brown is going to need to be a one man wrecking crew.
  7. Add nick Scott to the list of why the f are they starting
  8. Until the panthers get a new qb its hard to decide on anyone. If Byoung goes someplace else and does amazing yeah all panthers coaches suck. If they succeed with a different qb then yeah young brought the entire team down. It reminds me of panthers teams in the past its almost impossible to win with a clausen or a wienke, in fact I remember them not even using a qb just running the wildcat and the panthers played better....the panthers may be reaching that point soon.
  9. I think you are right... BY is not Canales "guy" he is working with what he has. Hopefully BY turns into the guy but if he sucks this year next offseason we are QB shopping. I think Canales is our coach almost no matter what next year regardless of this years result. Not to derail the conversation, but time also allows us to forget that Cam was never a great thrower of the football.
  10. On the one hand I think continuity could be positive, but I don’t know that these guys have earned it. I think it’s probably time to start over.
  11. This is one of those times where PFF plays themselves trying to be cute and coming up with some "well, ackshually..." to justify a grade that just makes absolutely no sense to anyone watching the game. Bryce was unfiltered ass yesterday. There's just no defending it.
  12. Tepper won’t clean house out of embarrassment. But that’s what we need, Morgan has appeared to completely whiff this offseason and wasted a ton of money doing so. The only focus this offseason should have been to improve the run defense which was worst in NFL history last season, and it somehow looks worse. Wallace looks to be the worst starting linebacker in the league and there were several options in free agency and we had the money. I think a good portion of that is because of Evero but a good coach and GM would have identified that Evero can’t scheme or coach and made a change. This team really, really, really can’t afford drafting another first round QB in 2026 because they sorely need defensive studs, and there are several in this upcoming draft. Just a gut punch of an opener and what’s even worse is if we cut BY he will be better somewhere else and we will be laughed at again, I just feel that it’s coming
  13. Listen, I am as skeptical of PFF's grades as anyone but I need someone to tell me how this is a "good" game by Bryce. Who graded that? Elon Musk in a k-hole???
  14. I am absolutely all in on treating players well who have earned it the panthers did that with a pay increase that no other team would gave given him that as enough
  15. If the injuries to Wharton, Bobby Brown, and Patrick Jones keep all or some of them of them out for a significant amount of time… this defense might compete with last year for worst of all time. Just shameful with or without Derrick Brown. Dude has 0 help out there.
  16. I think his opinion shifted after seeing us perform in the preseason, but I can only speculate. By a lot of accounts, we got good value for the oldest WR in the league on a 1 year rental. You probably would have complained as well if we got nothing and father time won this season or he walked next year and we got no return. At least we got something. Everyone won a bit here.
  17. I would clean house by the trade deadline and start moving on. What I think will happen: 1. Evero fired before seasons end. 2. DC fired before the end of 2026 3. Morgan fired mid-season 2027. We rarely get the order of operations correct and Tepper has had longer leashes for GM's than HC's.
  18. they didnt trade up for harrington and he won more games in his first 2 years Worst ever is a tad much but he is fuging close
  19. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, so all I can do is speculate. Maybe the raise was to try to keep him happy as he was disgruntled with our success? No way for me to know. He wasn't the answer for the future, but he was good for us while he was here. I don't think we hurt anything by giving him a pay bump and sending a message to the team that he is model behavior and it gets rewarded.
  20. He's only built an offense here. He worked with players Tampa already had and used their current offense to run it. I'm not giving him credit for that. If he was some offensive guru he would be with Pete today. You are ignoring Canales because of how Young has turned out. Both are what they are and neither are going to cut it.
  21. Here we go again... eventually we have to brew some stability and steady growth and quit shuffling the deck every other year for a quick fix. I get it tho, you have to trust the GM and coach. pissed we didnt land Harbaugh... hell, even Payton...their analytics are they win.
  22. If he wanted out, fine. But he needed to let us know that in February or March, not halfway through training camp. At that point, if I'm Dan Morgan, my answer is "tough poo" unless the Vikings give us an offer I can't turn down.
  23. Nah it's correct. Panthers.com has Bryce with 64 snaps yesterday like in the Pic
  24. It's gotta be, because no way in hell is Bryce at a 71 grade.
