  1. Past hour
  2. His point is the Lions could have a hole at either RT or LT with Sewell being able to play both at a high level. They could have easily kept Sewell at RT where he has been playing at an elite level and draft Freeling to be their LT. It almost makes more sense. I also think painting these players into traditional LT or RT roles by their style is a little outdated. With the way defenses are moving their DL and pass rushers around the RT needs to be just as quick at the LT anymore. OG play is even considered more valuable now that it was in the past.
  3. Point being what? It doesn't matter why they have the hole at RT, it just matters that they have it and because they have it, they were always taking Miller over Freeling. Just like if we were ahead of them and both were on the board, we'd have also taken Freeling, and if Freeling was gone, I don't think we take Miller at all. Taking a career RT would have made zero sense for us
  4. And we saw that with Luke and Cam and Jake. TD spoiled us into believing anyone could come back if they wanted it enough. TD was the exception more than the rule, though.
  5. Today
  6. Damn, that's a helluva reference. First car I remember as a kid that my parents drove....barely recall it, but I think it was green. In fact, I think it was a pretty putrid green at that.
  7. They will not be able to stash him on the practice squad.
  8. Even if he comes back, we drafted his replacement and he doesnt have a deal. I doubt we franchise tag him so if he is "healthy" some other team will give him LT $ as good/average tackles like him rarely hit the open market.
  9. Right now I think we're proceeding as if his career is over. The recovery rate back to full NFL readiness is very low. If Icky returns, he probably needs to go inside where he won't have to rely so much on the lateral movement. Unfortunate situation, but it shows why you need guys training to be a #1 at key positions. LT, QB, green dot LB. Any of these guys are 1 injury away from their careers being on the rocks.
  10. I was referencing Fetti not you my bad if it came off differently
  11. It’s actually incredible the streak we’re on, we’ve literally never failed to secure our top target
  12. They’ve stuck to positional value early, this isn’t surprising. It doesn’t really tell us much about how they value Tight Ends or which profile they like. Jatavaion Sanders doesn’t play in line and they clearly have high hopes there. the real interesting, telling question would’ve been Sadiq versus Thieneman.
  13. Lets be honest. There was need in just about every position on the team if you look at it critically. So following BPA was going to improve us no matter who we got. There's not a position group that didn't need some kind of help. And I think we had some added luck in who fell to us.
  14. At this point, I just pray Icky's career isn't over, though it probably is with the Panthers. So much depends upon his recovery.
  15. You cant take any of this stuff seriously. Nothing true ever really comes out. We always get the #1 guy we wanted is all youre ever going to hear after the draft.
  16. lol. That said, the hopium around the 7th rounders and UDFAs is crazy. The legends of Beau Sandland and Jeremy Cash come to mind. Aside from Norwell and maybe Philly we’ve had tiny flashes, but nothing real for over a decade. Butker was the only other chance in the 7th but we all know how that went.
  17. I didn't have AC in mine--and I could not drive with the windows rolled down because hot babes kept trying to crawl in when I was at stoplights and whatnot. A blessing and a curse, that car was. Forgot to mention the white letter tires--score!
  18. SMH. Yep, I was just saying this one play means everything. Combine drills are big to me so someone saying they watched them and he looked like Little out there is concerning. We’ve got people saying he had the wrong cleats on when Indy has turf and has literally hosted every combine I can recall. No one wears the wrong cleats there. Oh well, I’m a bit more worried about a raw guy because some flag football coach watched the drills and felt similar to how I felt when Little ran drills. Also, by the way, Little was considered a top 15 prospect by all the same ex-NFLers until his combine was so bad and we still took him in the second. Heck, Little was a PFF all star because he gave up 1 sack in his much longer college career. Little’s athleticism was terrible too so at least Freeling might be able to fix the reaching and falling but I’d rather have heard he killed it on the positional drills instead of looking terrible.
  19. Arch is essentially too big to fail with his family. Not saying it’s right but he’s a lock. Moore would have been the #2 pick this year, he could have a bad year and still only fall to Jake Locker levels
  20. Adorbs! petition to nickname Monroe "Big Love"
  21. Who remembers the Greg Olsen crash of 2011?? Good times
  22. Here since 2010. Mostly a game day thread poster and weekday browser at this point. When you look at my internet tabs I leave open because I visit certain sites often, Carolina Huddle has been my first tab for as long as I can remember. Keep pounding
  23. Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory…. Praise be.
  24. Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
  25. There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
